Samsung Galaxy S8+ SIM Card Reader Not Working After Getting Wet

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8+ is the larger version of the S8, both of which are flagship phones released last year. This phone is best known for having a large 6.2 inch Super AMOLED display which makes it great to use for viewing various multimedia content. It uses a powerful Snapdragon 835 processor which when used in tandem with its 4GB of RAM allows for multiple apps to be run smoothly. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8+ SIM card reader not working after getting wet issue and other related problems.

S8+ SIM Card Reader Not Working After Getting Wet

Problem: Don’t believe the galaxy s8+ is water proof like Samsung claims. My s8+ stopped working after getting wet. I tried every reboot there is including complete reset to factory settings. After drying out the sim card reader stopped working. I tried my sim card in another phone and still works so I know it’s the phone. Works only on wifi but of course I can’t make calls because “no network connection”. I sent back to Samsung only to be told it has water damage. Duh! They wouldn’t repair or replace. So I paid $800 and have a non working phone.

Solution: This model is waterproof to a certain extent. While it can survive being submerged in a meter of water it is still vulnerable to water damage especially if the rubber seals that keep water out from the inside of the phone is broken. If the Samsung service center has determined that it is water damaged and they won’t fix it then you could try going to a different service center. They might have some replacement parts available for the water damaged component inside your phone.

S8+ No Incoming Call Notification After Software Update

Problem: My wife and I have the S8+ on Verizon. Since getting the latest software update, incoming calls don’t ring or give any notification about 70% of the time and, when they do ring, about half of the time there is no pop-up to allow us to answer or decline the call. We have tried soft resets and the like, and sometimes that fixes it for a day or so tops.

Solution: It appears that the problem is caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the software update process. This old data is now causing a conflict with the new software version resulting in this problem. The best thing you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete the issue should be resolved.

S8+ Cannot Turn Off Call Barring

Problem: Cannot shut off call barring on my Samsung Galaxy S8+. I’ve read tap the phone icon, menu, settings, than more settings, and tap call barring. My phone and my wife’s phone do not show call barring. Need assistance. Thank you.

Solution: To turn off call barring you should follow the steps listed below.

  • Press Phone.
  • Press the menu icon.
  • Press Settings.
  • Press More settings.
  • Press Call barring.
  • Press Voice call.
  • Press the indicator next to the required barring type.
  • Key in your barring password and press OK. The default barring password is 0000.

S8+ Getting Dropped Calls

Problem: I have a 64Gb S8+. It’s has been active for less than two weeks. At times usually when I am driving or recently changed locations, I will get no cell coverage. It has also caused several dropped or failed calls due to this. Signal usually returns in a few seconds, but not always to strength that I should be getting in these areas. When I am in same spot for hours I rarely have this problem, but if I leave within 5 minutes I will see my phone show “no service”.

Solution: There’s a possibility that you might be in an area which has a weak network coverage which is why this issue is occuring. There’s also the possibility that there is a network problem in your area.

To fix this problem try going to a different location then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should try do a factory reset on your phone to eliminate the possibility of a software glitch causing this problem.

If the issue still occurs after the reset then try calling your carrier and inquire if there are any network issues that could be causing the problem.

As a last resort you should have the phone checked at a service center as this could be caused by a faulty hardware component already.

S8+ Call Can’t Be Heard

Problem: hello I was using my phone today and was able to make calls and I could hear people and they could hear me. I had my earphones in all day in my phone. the problem I am facing is that when I call someone they cannot hear me just a lot of clicking. also my earphone jack is not working. I do not know what to do. pls help

Solution: The best thing you can do right now is to clean the earphone jack of the phone using a can of compressed air as dust or debris stuck in it could be causing the problem. Once this is done try using a different pair of earphones and see if it works on your phone. In case it doesn’t work then you will need to have this checked at a service center.
