Samsung Galaxy A10 has a screen flickering issue. Here’s the fix.

The screen flickering issue that seems to be bugging some owners of the Samsung Galaxy A10 could be a sign of a minor firmware problem. In this post, I will walk you through in troubleshooting your Samsung Galaxy A10 with screen flickering issue. We will try to consider every possibility and rule them out one after another until we can determine what the problem really is all about and hopefully fix it. Troubleshooting Galaxy A10 with screen flickering issue

In troubleshooting this kind of problem, you have to be thorough enough so as not to lose some important files and data. With that said, here’s what you need to do…

First solution: Force restart your phone to fix screen flickering

The very first thing that you have to do is make sure it’s not just due to a minor firmware glitch. Perform the forced restart to refresh your phone’s memory and reload its apps and services. If it’s just due to a minor firmware issue, then this solution can fix it. Here’s how: 

1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet. 
2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well. 
3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A10 logo shows on the screen.

Once your phone has successfully rebooted, try to see if the screen flickering still occurs. If it still does, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Make sure it’s not due to third-party apps

There are times when one or some of your downloaded applications is causing the screen to flicker from time to time, especially heavy game apps. You need to rule this possibility out and in order to do that, you have to restart your phone in safe mode. Doing so will temporarily disable all third-party applications. Here’s how you do it: 

1. Press and hold the Power key until options show. 
2. Tap and hold the Power off option until it changes into Safe Mode. 
3. Tap the Safe mode icon to restart your device.
4. Once the reboot is successful, you should see ‘Safe mode’ at the lower-left corner of the screen. 

Once your phone has successfully booted up in this mode, observe the phone to know if the screen flickering is fixed. If it doesn’t occur, then it means there’s a third-party app or two that’s causing this issue. Here’s what you need to do in that case…

1. Restart your phone normal to boot into standard mode. 
2. Remember the apps you installed about the time when the phone starts to have the screen flickering issue. 
3. Once you already have an app in mind, swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down. 
4. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner. 
5. Scroll to and then tap Apps. 
6. Find and tap suspected app. 
7. Tap Storage. 
8. Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.
9. Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall. 
10. Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone. 

On the other hand, if the screen still flickers even in safe mode, then move on to the next solution.

Third solution: Clear the system cache

One of the possibilities why this issue occurs is that the system cache may have been corrupted or is now obsolete. You need to clear or delete the system cache so that it will be replaced with a new one. To do so, you need to follow these steps: 

1. Turn off the device.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
3. When the Galaxy A10 logo shows, release all three keys.
4. Your Galaxy A10 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step. 
5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
6. Press Power key to select.
7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

After doing this procedure and your phone still has the screen flickering issue, then move on to the next solution. 

Fourth solution: Backup your files and reset your phone

After doing the procedures above and your phone still has the screen flickering issue, then it’s time to reset it. A master reset will fix this problem if it’s just an issue with the firmware and not the screen or any of the components. But before that, make sure to create a copy of your important files and data as they will be deleted during the process. Also, remove your Google and Samsung accounts so that you won’t be locked out of your device. After that, follow these steps to reset your phone: 

1. Turn off the device.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
3. When the Galaxy A10 logo shows, release all three keys.
4. Your Galaxy A10 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step. 
5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
6. Press Power button to select.
7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
10. Press the Power key to restart the device.

After the reset, set up your phone as a new device to see if the screen flickering issue is gone. If it remained, then it’s time to take that trip back to the store and have the phone checked or replaced.
