Mega Android App Now the Official Client

One of the best third-party apps for Kim Dotcom’s cloud storage service, Mega, just got better. It is now the only first-party app in existence for the service. Mega, as you know, is the successor to the now-defunct Megaupload. The service offers 50 GB of free storage, which is a lot, considering Dropbox’s free plan at first is only 2 GB.

Now the official app, the app has a new design language, it now uses the official icons that you see on the Mega site on your computer, it has automatic camera uploads for photos and videos, you can now select any folder you want, and of course, it has lots of bug fixes to make it work perfectly.

Also as part of today’s announcement, Mega announced that apps for iOS and Windows Phone are in their final stages of development and will be released soon. That’s really good to make it an ever better competitor to Box and Dropbox.
