LG G5 Is Unresponsive Not Charging Issue & Other Related Problems

The #LG #G5 is a flagship smartphone released last year that has a modular design. Phone owners can simply attach add ons to the phone to enhance its features further. These add ons, which LG calls as Friends, are attached to the Magic Slot of the phone. Some of the add ons include the LG Cam Plus, LG Hi-Fi Plus with B&O Play, and the LG 360 VR and the LG 360 CAM.While this might seem like a very useful feature it hasn’t been continued with the LG G6 so this concept might not have been popular with consumers. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the LG G5 is unresponsive not charging issue & other related problems.

LG G5 Is Unresponsive Not Charging

Problem: Hello, So my Lg G5 ran out of battery while I was out, so I went home to charge it but when i plugged it in, it was unresponsive, (didn’t vibrate or show red light, or charging icon on screen). I’ve purchased a new charger but that hasn’t produced any different results. I tried to bring up the soft / hard reset menu by holding down the volume and power button, but nothing happens. I’ve removed the battery and put it back and tried everything again. Nothing is working, it is completely unresponsive. It was working fine yesterday.

Solution: What you will want to do right now is to make sure that the battery of the phone has sufficient charge by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using the new charger. In case the phone does not charge the try charging from a computer USB port.
  • Remove the microSD card of the phone then turn it on.

In case the above steps fail to work then you should try getting a new battery. If this still fails then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG G5 Com.Android.Phone Not Working

Problem: Com.android.phone is no longer working has been plaguing my phone and the fix to clear the cache for the phone app isn’t possible as there is no such app. Nothing called phone or dialer or call or anything of the sort appears in the app list. Could you please help as I would prefer not to factory reset?

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to clear the cache and data of the phone app from the application manager. Follow this up by clearing the cache and data of the SIM toolkit.

If the issue still persists then try  wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • Drag down the notification bar and tap the Settings icon at the top-right.
  • Tap General > Storage & USB. (If using List view, scroll down to ‘DEVICE’ and tap Storage).
  • Wait for menu options to finish calculating.
  • Tap Cached data, then tap YES.
  • Wait for the cached data to clear; depending on size it will take several seconds to complete.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

LG G5 Will Not Turn On

Problem: Hello my lg g5 been out for like 2 weeks already my phone used to not turn on but will eventually turn on, it was dying and i tried to charge it but it wouldn’t charge and it died i tried purchasing multiple chargers, but it wont turn on also purchased 2 extra batteries for the phone to see if they will turn on it still no response i also bought a new LCD screen because i was going to replace the original one, i have no warranty so i am in desperate need of your assistance to see what the problem can be can it be the module bottom chin replacement where the battery connect?

Solution: If you have already tried multiple chargers and even used different batteries on your phone then this could already be a hardware related problem most likely caused by a hardware component that is failing to work. Unfortunately, it is difficult to diagnose this issue unless the phone is physically inspected. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG G5 No Data Connection

Problem: I started off with the Samsung Note 5 but that was giving me data connection issues. I eventually convinced T-Mobile to let me borrow a loaner phone. I got to use the Samsung On 5. No issues at all. T-Mobile let me switch to the Lg G5. It is having the same issues as the Note 5. No data connection and I can’t make or receive calls/text. The Lg G5 is fully updated and I’ve contacted T-Mobile and they have walked me through a few setting changes but nothing has helped. I was told the Note didn’t work because of frequency compatibility issues but the Lg G5 was suppose to have all bands.

Solution: If your phone does not have any data connectivity then you should follow the troubleshooting steps which we have listed below.

  • Make sure that the mobile data switch of your phone is turned on and that the phone is getting a good mobile data signal. If it is already on then try turning it off then on again
  • Make sure that the network mode is set to get the LTE signal. On the Networks tab, tap More. Tap Mobile networks. Tap Network mode. Choose the GSM/ WCDMA/ LTE (auto connect) setting.
  • Turn off the data roaming switch if it is turned on.
  • Make sure that the phone is using the correct APN settings.

APN

  • Name: T-Mobile US LTE
  • APN: fast.t-mobile.com
  • Proxy: <Not set>
  • Port: <Not set>
  • Username: <Not set>
  • Password: <Not set>
  • Server: <Not set>
  • MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
  • MMS proxy: <Not set>
  • MMS port: <Not set>
  • MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
  • MCC: 310
  • MNC: 260
  • Authentication type: <Not set>
  • APN type: <Not set> OR Internet+MMS
  • APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
  • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
  • Enable/disable APN: <greyed out unless there are multiple APN’s>
  • Bearer: Unspecified

If the phone is still unable to connect to mobile data then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset check if the issue still occurs.

LG G5 Shuts Off Not Turning Back On

Problem: Having issues with device. I disabled the Amazon music and my cell phone shut off completely. I have tried to turn the cell phone on a few times since that has happen, i get nothing on the screen non power up or factory reset mode. i did a factory reset on this device a month ago i had locked myself out. I fixed that issue now either i disabled an app that the cell phone needed or i think it might be the battery i had left it out in the vehicle while at work. would love to get this issue solved asap. thanks..

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge. Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed. Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger. If the phone doesn’t charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port. Turn on the phone. If it doesn’t turn on then try using a new battery.

In case the above steps fail to work then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG G5 Group Text Message Not Showing

Problem: Hi there, I am hoping you can help me. I have the LG G5 and love it! The one issue I have involves group text messaging, and only with one chain in particular. I sent a group text to my mother and sister the other day. My sister responded but her message is not showing up in the thread or even in just her own thread. However the notification still keeps showing up at the top of the screen and in the drop down list. I will hit clear, and it will go away until I open the messenger app again and it starts all over again. I deleted the entire group thread and that did not help. I am not sure what else to do.. One, how do I see her whole message in the thread (right now, it’s just the one line that it shows you in the notification) and two, how do I make the notification stop coming in?

Solution: Usually clearing the cache and data of the messaging app from the application manager will fix this problem.
