Hulu Brings Back 4K Streaming for Chromecast and Apple TV

If you’re a Hulu subscriber, you’d know how annoying it is to miss out on 4K streaming while competitive offerings like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video offer 4K content in abundance. What’s even stranger is the fact that Hulu briefly enabled the feature previously but took it down shortly. Well, it looks like things are finally changing with users reportedly being able to access 4K Hulu content on the Chromecast Ultra as well as the Apple TV.

The bad news here is that this feature appears to be live only on these two devices for now, although it shouldn’t take long for other devices to be supported eventually. The company clarifies that its 4K content will stream at 16 Mbps, which may not seem like much in this day and age, but can quickly knock off your monthly data allowance if you’re on a limited package.

In terms of content, the only show you can possibly stream in 4K on Hulu is The Handmaid’s Tale, and that’s pretty much it. It’s quite clear thtat Hulu appears to be playing catchup in the industry. However, content is what determines where people watch their shows, and there’s no dearth of good content on any of the streaming platforms today.

Do you own a Chromecast Ultra or an Apple TV? Could you get Hulu working in 4K (for that one show)? Let us know in the comments section below.
