How to Stop Seeing What Other People Are Sending Money For on Venmo Social Stream
Venmo’s social feed shows payment activity by your friends and the public, which can be intrusive or unnecessary. Fortunately, there are multiple ways to limit or completely stop seeing what others are sending money for on the Venmo social stream.
Method 1: Change Your Feed to Only Show Personal Activity
- Open the Venmo app on your device.
- Tap the “House” icon at the bottom left to access the Social feed.
- Tap the “Single-person” icon at the top of the screen to switch to the Personal feed , this will only show your own transactions.
- Alternatively, tap the “Two-person” icon to see only Friends feed, which shows activity between your Venmo friends.
Method 2: Use the Search Function Only When Needed
- Instead of browsing the social feed, use the search bar at the top to find specific people or payments.
- This helps avoid the social feed entirely unless you want to see a specific transaction.
Method 3: Reduce Visibility of Your Own Transactions (Optional Privacy Setting)
- Open the Venmo app and go to the “Me” tab by tapping your profile icon.
- Tap the gear icon in the top-right corner to open Settings.
- Select “Privacy”.
- Under “Default Privacy Setting,” choose Private so others can’t see your transactions , this doesn’t remove the feed, but protects your own activity.
Method 4: Contact Venmo to Request Feed Customization (Limited Option)
- Go to the Venmo app and tap the menu (☰).
- Scroll down and tap “Get Help” or “Contact Us”.
- Request that Venmo consider giving users more control over the social feed, such as disabling it entirely , while not a current option, user feedback may influence future updates.
Method 5: Use a Different Payment App with No Social Feed
- Consider switching to apps like Zelle, Cash App (with privacy enabled), or PayPal, which either don’t have a public feed or allow full privacy control.
- Set those apps as your primary payment platform to avoid exposure to Venmo’s social features.
