How to Permanently Delete a Google Sheet Immediately

Google Sheets is a powerful tool, but sometimes you need to delete a sheet permanently. This guide will walk you through the process to ensure your Google Sheet is deleted immediately and irretrievably.

Important Notes:

  • Shared Access: Deleting a shared sheet removes access for all users.

By following these methods, you can permanently delete a Google Sheet immediately. Always double-check the file name before deletion to prevent accidental loss of data.

  1. The file is named “Excel 1040 Tax Calculator. Changes”.
The first sheet is named “2026 Spreadsheet”
Line 1 contains “2026 Federal Income Tax Forecast Spreadsheet (www.excel1040.com)”
    Line 2&3 name three columns
    “DATE/TIME (Central Time)”
    “AFFECTED SHEET(S)”
    “DETAILS”
Line 4 contains “1-20-2026 9:40 PM” “Sch. C” “Corrected calculations for lines 27a and 27b so that line 27b uses line 48. Thank you, Russell and Tony”.
It is apparently getting updated several times a day. It looks like it belongs to an Income tax support group, of which there is none around here. I can delete it (to Trash), but it keeps coming back. One more thing: My copy is “View only”
