Prior to actually performing the hard reset, it is important that you remove your Google account from the device. If you don’t want to do that, then be sure to enter the correct username and password after for that account after a factory reset.

1. From the Home screen, swipe up and then tap Settings.
2. Tap Accounts & sync.
3. Tap an account.
4. Tap Remove Account.

Method 1: Hard reset HTC U12 Plus via Settings

Under normal circumstances, you should only try to factory reset your HTC U12 Plus by going under its Settings menu. This method is easy to do and straightforward. Here’s how it’s done:

1. Create a backup of your data.
2. From the Home screen, swipe up and then tap Settings.
3. Tap System.
4. Tap Reset.

Method 2: Hard reset HTC U12 Plus via Download Mode (using hardware buttons)

   • Hold down the VOLUME DOWN and POWER buttons at the same time. Release the buttons when the phone vibrates.
   • Hold down the VOLUME UP and POWER buttons at the same time until the phone restarts.
   • Hold down the VOLUME UP, VOLUME DOWN, and POWER buttons at the same time for up to 2 minutes.
4. On some phones, some of these combinations may power the phone on into the Bootloader or Download Mode screen. Use the VOLUME buttons to navigate between options, and then press POWER to select an option.
5. Select Reboot.
