How To Get iMessage On Your Computer
Accessing iMessage on your Mac
Using iMessage on your Mac computer is an easy process as you can use the iMessage app that is installed.
- Look for “Messages” in Spotlight Search.
- In case you don’t have iMessage on your Mac, check if you are running OS Mountain Lion (Mac OS 10.8) or higher.
- If your Mac OS is older than the mentioned version, download the latest OS X that your computer allows.
- After you updated your Mac OS, check again, you have Messages installed or you can visit the Mac App Store and download the app from there.
- Open the app and sign in with your Apple ID and password. You can only use one Apple ID at a time. If you have multiple IDs then you have to log out of your current ID first in order to use another one.
You can now access iMessage On Your Computer.
Accessing iMessage on your PC
Using iMessage on your PC is not as straightforward as using it on a Mac. Since it is not natively supported by Windows then you will have to employ other techniques.
Using Chrome Remote Desktop
The Chrome remote desktop allows you to securely access any computer from anywhere. For this to work you will need a Mac computer and a PC.
You should first setup remote access on your Mac computer
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- In the address bar, type remotedesktop.google.com/access.
- Under “Set up Remote Access,” click Download Download.
- Follow the onscreen directions to download and install Chrome Remote Desktop.
To share access to your Mac computer
- On your Mac , open Chrome.
- In the address bar at the top, type remotedesktop.google.com/support, and press Enter.
- Under “Get Support, “ click Download .
- Follow the onscreen directions to download and install Chrome Remote Desktop.
- Under “Get Support,” select Generate Code.
- Copy the code and send to the person you want to have access to your computer.
- When that person enters your access code on the site, you will see a dialog with their email address. Select Share to allow them full access to your computer.
Using your PC use the generated code to gain full control of the Mac computer. You will then be able to access the iMessage feature of the Mac from your PC thus in a sense be able to get iMessage on your computer.
