How to fix your LG Q6 that won’t turn on (easy steps)

Based on experience, if a phone turns off by itself and no longer turns on or responds to your commands, it’s most likely that the firmware has crashed. Such is the case with some of our readers that own the LG Q6. According to some, they just found out that the phone turned off or no longer responds in the morning after leaving the device charging overnight. Others, however, said that their devices turned off by themselves and would no longer power up.

I will walk you through in troubleshooting your LG Q6 in this post and I will share with you the solution that we’ve always been using to fix this kind of problem. Rest assured that this issue is a minor one and you can actually fix it on your own without any help from a technician. How to make your LG Q6 respond to your commands again

This issue may seem like a serious one but as long as your phone hasn’t been dropped on a hard surface or got submerged in water for a long time, the issue at hand is a minor one. With that being said, here’s what you should do to fix this problem:

First solution: Forced Restart

Assuming that the problem started without apparent reason or cause, then this is the first this you should do. Actually, this might be the only thing you need to do to make your LG Q6 respond again.

  • Press and hold the volume down and power keys at the same time for 12 seconds or more.

This procedure will force your device to restart even if it’s not responding because it’s hard-wired to simulate battery disconnect when a correct combination of keys done. If you’re familiar with the battery pull, then this is the equivalent of that. Should the problem started due to a system crash, then at this point, your device should already be booting up. However, if it’s still not responding, try doing the same procedure a couple more times or you may try this instead:

  1. Press and hold the volume down button first and don’t release it.
  2. Press and hold the power key while you’re holding down the volume down button.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 12 seconds or more.

It’s the same as the first procedure but we’re making sure that the power key is pressed and held after the volume down key to successfully simulate battery disconnect. Doing it otherwise won’t give you the same result.

Second solution: Charge the phone and do the Forced Restart

If your LG Q6 didn’t respond to the first solution, then there’s a possibility that the battery got completely drained. It’s not really a problem but the thing about it is that when the phone is not properly shut down, a system may crash. The same thing may happen if you allow the battery to run completely dead because some hardware components and services won’t be powered off normally. As a result, you have a phone with a firmware that crashed and an empty battery. Even if the Forced Restart can make the phone respond, the empty battery will still prevent your phone from starting up successfully. With that in mind, here’s what I suggest you do about it:

  1. Plug the charger to a working wall outlet. Make sure you’re using the original charger.
  2. Using the original power / data cable, connect your LG Q6 to its charger.
  3. Regardless whether the device shows the charging signs or not, leave it connected to its charger for 10 minutes or so.
  4. Now, press and hold the volume down button first and don’t release it.
  5. Press and hold the power key while you’re holding down the volume down button.
  6. Keep both keys held down together for 12 seconds or more but this time while the phone is connected to its charger.

If the problem is caused by a firmware crashed that was triggered when the juice ran out, then your phone should already be booting up after doing the procedure above. However, if it remained unresponsive with its black screen, then there’s a possibility that this issue is triggered by a hardware problem. I suggest that you bring the phone back to the store or to an LG-accredited shop so that a technician can check the device for you.
