How to fix your Galaxy A8 2018 with WiFi issues

Intermittent Wi-Fi connection usually occurs when your device is getting a weak signal from the wireless network like when it is way farther from the wireless router or modem. The farther the distance between your device and network equipment, the more unstable your Wi-Fi connection would be. So whenever you’ll experience Wi-Fi drops or intermittent Internet connection via Wi-Fi, make sure your device is within the specified range from the wireless router and that it has strong signal strength. Aside from distance, software errors can also cause the same issue to occur. This is usually occurring after a faulty update installation on the phone. Other possible causes include damaged components on the phone like when any of the network components gets busted and needs some repair. In short, you may be dealing with a software issue if not hardware damage on the phone. If the problem is attributed to software errors and glitches, then you may resort to these workarounds as possible solutions:

First solution: Reboot your wireless router/modem.

A restart on the modem or wireless router is often needed whenever network issues suddenly occur. It helps eliminate bugs and system errors that cause the network to become unstable or not working at all. It also refreshes system functions of your modem or wireless router for better and more optimized performance. And here’s how it’s done:

  1. Press the Power button on your modem or wireless router until all the light indicators go off.
  2. Unplug the A/C adapter from the power source and leave it that way for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. It’s like giving your network equipment a little break.
  3. After the elapsed time, plug it back into the power source.
  4. Then press the Power button to turn it back on.
  5. Wait until all the light indicators become stable.

Test your Internet connection and see if that fixes the problem. If not, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Restart your phone (soft reset).

Performing a soft reset or restart on the phone can also be the key to fix the problem if it’s attributed to minor bugs and software glitches. It also helps clear up some space of  your phone’s internal memory for better and faster performance. If you haven’t already, then follow these steps to perform a soft reset on your Samsung Galaxy A8 2018:

  • Press and hold the Power button and the Volume Down button simultaneously for about 10 seconds or until your device restarts.

Alternatively, you can do the usual restart procedure with these steps:

  1. Press the Power button for a few seconds or until the phone shuts down.
  2. Then after 30 seconds, press the Power button again to turn the phone back on.

A soft reset or restart is the simplest effective solution to various types of devices issues without affecting your data stored on the internal memory, so you won’t lose anything.

Third solution: Disconnect from Wi-Fi and then reconnection.

A simple yet effective workaround that’s been used by many people when dealing with random network connectivity issues on their smartphones is the Wi-Fi on and off trick. If you wish to try your luck in this method, then you may do so with these steps:

Your wireless network can be triggered by some bad apps to crash and when this happens, expect your network connection to become unstable if not fail. Aside from bad apps, invalid network settings on the phone can also inflict the same network problems to occur. A possible fix you can try on in this case is therefore a network settings reset. This will restore your network settings to the default values and then you can re-configure Wi-Fi network on your device accordingly. Here’s how to get this done:

  1. Tap Settings from the Apps menu.
  2. Scroll to and tap General management.
  3. Scroll to and tap Reset.
  4. Select the option to Reset network settings. Doing so will delete your current network configurations and restore the default values.
  5. Tap Network Settings again to proceed.
  6. Then tap Reset to confirm network settings reset.

Your phone restarts automatically when the reset is finished. By then you can start setting up your wireless network to connect your device to the Internet again.

Fifth solution: Forget or delete wireless network on your phone.

It is possible that your wireless gets corrupted and therefore not performing properly. In this case, you will likely be able to fix the problem by deleting your wireless network then reconnect your device. It’s like connecting your phone to your wireless network as if it’s the first time so everything should be okay. Here’s what you should do then.

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Go to Connections section.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
