How To Fix The Vivo Y89 Won’t Turn On Issue

One major issue that you might experience with your phone is when it refuses to turn on. This can be caused by several factors  but the reasons can be classified as either a hardware or software problem. If this is caused by a faulty hardware component then the best way to proceed is to have the device repaired at a service center. If however the issue is caused by a software glitch then there’s a possibility that this can be fixed on your end by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

Charge the phone battery

The first thing that you will want to do in this case is to eliminate the possibility of the problem being caused by a drained battery. There have been several cases when the phone battery will get fully drained thus causing the phone not to turn on. This factor is what we will be eliminating by following the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
  • Fully charge the phone using its wall charger.
  • In case the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port in case charging using the wall charger fails to work.

Once the battery has been fully charged try turning on the phone. If it still does not turn on then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

Perform a soft reset

Your phone usually stored the most commonly used data so that it can access it faster. This data however can become corrupted which could lead to this problem. If this is what’s causing the problem then you should refresh the phone software by doing a soft reset. This can be done easily by simply restarting the device. Press and hold the Power button and Volume Down until the device powers off, approximately 8 seconds, then release.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

There are cases when this data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens it will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • Press and hold the Volume Down + Power key together for a short while.
  • Release all buttons when Fastboot Mode appears.
  • In this mode select “Recovery”. Use Volume Down to navigate and the Power key to confirm that.
  • Press the volume key to highlight the Wipe cache option then the power key to select it
  • Use the volume keys to go to “reboot system now” and press the power key.

  • Press and hold the Volume Down + Power key together for a short while.
  • Release all buttons when Fastboot Mode appears.
  • In this mode select “Recovery”. Use Volume Down to navigate and the Power key to confirm that.
  • Press the volume key to highlight the “wipe data / factory reset” and press the power button to enter. A screen with many NOs and a YES will appear, with the volume keys again go to the YES and press with the power key.
  • Use the volume keys to go to “reboot system now” and press the power key.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component.
