How To Fix The Vivo V15 Pro Black Screen of Death Issue
The Black Screen of Death is a term given to a phone that does not display anything on the screen. When the phone is in this state it can still be getting notifications and calls but nothing can be seen on the screen. There are also instances when the phone does not get any notifications at all. What we will be doing right now is to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.
Charge the phone
Sometimes this problem can just be caused by a drained battery which is why you will need to make sure that the device if fully charged. This factor is what we will be eliminating first by following the steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
- Fully charge the phone using its wall charger.
- In case the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port in case charging using the wall charger fails to work.
Once the battery has been fully charged try turning on the phone. If it the display is still black then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.
Perform a soft reset
Try to refresh the phone software to eliminate the possibility of the problem being caused by a minor software glitch. This can be done easily by simply restarting the device. Press and hold the Power button and Volume Down until the device powers off, approximately 8 seconds, then release.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone
Sometimes the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Press and hold the Volume Down + Power key together for a short while.
- Release all buttons when Fastboot Mode appears.
- In this mode select “Recovery”. Use Volume Down to navigate and the Power key to confirm that.
- Press the volume key to highlight the Wipe cache option then the power key to select it
- Use the volume keys to go to “reboot system now” and press the power key.
Check if the issue still occurs.
Perform a factory reset
In case the Vivo V15 Pro black screen of death issue still occurs then one last troubleshooting step you can perform is a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
- Press and hold the Volume Down + Power key together for a short while.
- Release all buttons when Fastboot Mode appears.
- In this mode select “Recovery”. Use Volume Down to navigate and the Power key to confirm that.
- Press the volume key to highlight the “wipe data / factory reset” and press the power button to enter. A screen with many NOs and a YES will appear, with the volume keys again go to the YES and press with the power key.
- Use the volume keys to go to “reboot system now” and press the power key.
