How To Fix The Samsung Galaxy A9 Keeps On Rebooting
Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy A9. I have seen a few of your posts about the phones turning off randomly. I am not sure my issue is like those though. My phone is turning off at random times and random battery life. It does not power down shut down like if I had asked it to power off, it just dies. When turning the phone back on it pops up with the Samsung logo then the carrier one. It will even shut off while loading with the carrier logo up. So I do not think it can be an app shutting it off, because no apps are loaded at that time( I believe). I don’t want to have to factory reset my phone, and it happens at random times so I don’t want to not be able to use any apps for the day waiting on it in safe mode. Some days it does not even do it. Yesterday it did it 15 times, today it has done it once. Any advice?
Solution: Before performing any troubleshooting step on the phone you should first make sure that the phone is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then you should install this in your phone.
Remove the micro SD card
If your phone has a micro SD card installed and it has developed some corrupt sectors then this could cause the phone to freeze or even reboot. Removing the micro SD card will allow you to check if this is what’s causing the problem.
Start the phone in Safe Mode
Sometimes, apps you downloaded can cause issues on the device. To check if a downloaded app is causing the problem the best thing to do is to start the phone in Safe Mode since only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.
- Power off the device completely.
- Press and hold the power button until the logo appears
- Once the logo appears to release the power button and the press and hold volume down button
- Release the button when safe mode appears at the bottom of your device screen
If the phone does not reboot in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode
Wiping the cache partition of the phone will eliminate any corrupt temporary files and data of the phone software that could be causing the problem.
- Turn off your device.
- Now Press and hold the Bixby, Volume Up and Power buttons for few secs.
- After you see the Android Logo is displayed, release the Power and Bixby button, but keep holding the Volume Up button until the Recovery Mode screen shows up
- Now you can see the Android System Recovery Menu option.
- Use volume keys to highlight wipe cache partition and use the power button to select it
- Confirm by selecting yes option
Perform a factory reset
This is the last troubleshooting step that you will need to do as it will revert your phone back to its original factory condition. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
- Go to settings of your phone.
- Now Scroll down and select General management option
- Tap on Reset option
- Choose Factory data reset
- Select the option ‘Erase everything’ and then wait till your device gets rebooted with the factory settings.
You can also do a factory reset using the hardware keys
- Turn off your device.
- Now Press and hold the Bixby, Volume Up and Power buttons for few secs.
- After you see the Android Logo is displayed, release the Power and Bixby button, but keep holding the Volume Up button until the Recovery Mode screen shows up
- Now you can see the Android System Recovery Menu option.
- Select Wipe data/ factory reset (use vol keys to navigate and power key to select)
- Once the process finishes, your device will boot up into factory settings.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.
