How To Fix The Oppo RX17 Neo Won’t Connect To Wi-Fi Issue

Before performing you do the recommended troubleshooting steps for this particular problem I suggest that you make sure that the phone is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then you should download and install it first. This minimizes the possibility of the problem being caused by an older software version. Once the latest software update has been installed proceed with the steps listed below.

Turn on the phone Wi-Fi switch

Your phone has a Wi-Fi switch which needs to be turned on before the device can connect to a Wi-Fi network. Sometimes the phone owner will forget to turn on this switch making it seem that there is a Wi-Fi problem. What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that the Wi-Fi of the phone is switched on.

  • Swipe left.
  • Select Settings.
  • Select Wi-Fi.
  • Turn Enable Wi-Fi on.
  • Select the wireless network you want to connect to.
  • Enter the Wi-Fi Password and select Connect. Wi-Fi password.

Check if the issue still occurs.

Check if the problem is caused by the router

There are cases when the problem is not caused by your phone but instead by the router your phone is trying to connect to. As early as now you should eliminate the router as a possible cause of the problem. Can other devices connect to the router successfully? Is your phone within range of your router? Does the router have a setting activated (MAC Filtering) that is blocking your phone from connecting to it? One quick way to check if this is a router related issue is to try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network then check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a soft reset

One you have made sure that the problem is not caused by the router it’s time to check if a minor software glitch is the culprit. What you will want to do is to refresh the phone software which can be done easily by simply restarting the device.

  • Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
  • Wait as the device restarts.

Update your phone Wi-Fi settings

This step is usually done whenever the phone is having a problem connecting to a data network.  Go to your phone Settings then App Management then tap on All. You can also go to Settings then Additional settings then  Application management. From here tap on All. Tap on Wi-Fi Settings. From here tap on clear data and cache.

Check if your phone can now connect to the Wi-Fi network.

Start the phone in Safe Mode

There are cases when an app you downloaded from the Google Play Store will cause issues on the phone when it is installed. To check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • Turn Off your phone.
  • Press and Hold Power Button.
  • Release Power button and hold Volume Down Key when you see the Oppo animation.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down Key until Safe Mode appears.

In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

Sometimes the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • Press down the Power key and select the Power off option. If the screen is frozen or unresponsive, you can hold down the Power key for several seconds until the device switches off.
  • Press the Volume Down and Power keys for a few moments.
  • Release all buttons when the OPPO logo appears.
  • Select language.
  • Select Wipe Cache Partition.
  • Tap ok
  • Reboot the phone.

Check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a factory reset

In case the above steps fails to fix the Oppo RX17 Neo won’t connect to Wi-Fi issue then the best way to deal with this right now is to perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

  • Press down the Power key and select the Power off option. If the screen is frozen or unresponsive, you can hold down the Power key for several seconds until the device switches off.
  • Press the Volume Down and Power keys for a few moments.
  • Release all buttons when the OPPO logo appears.
  • Select language.
  • Select  Wipe data and Wipe data (Keep SMS, Contacts and Photos).
  • Tap ok
  • Reboot the phone.

Setup the phone then check if the issue still persists. If it does then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component. You should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
