How To Fix The Oppo Find X Black Screen Of Death Issue

The Black Screen of Death issue is characterized by the phone display not working and displaying nothing at all. When this problem occurs the phone might still be on and getting notifications or it can be totally off and not responding at all. This can usually happen right after the phone has been dropped, submerged in water, or can be caused by a software glitch. Listed below are the recommended troubleshooting steps you need to do to fix this problem.

Charge the phone

The first thing that you will need to do is to eliminate the possibility of the problem being caused by a drained battery. In order to do this you will need to charge your phone.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in it is removed.
  • Fully charge the phone using its wall charger.
  • In case the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port in case charging using the wall charger fails to work.

Once the phone has sufficient charge you should try turning on the device and check if the Oppo Find X Black Screen of Death issue still occurs.

Perform a soft reset

Your phone will usually store the most commonly used data to improve its performance. This data can sometimes get corrupted and cause this issue. If this is what’s causing the problem then you should try to refresh the phone software by doing a soft reset. This will usually resolve issues caused by minor software glitches.

  • Press and hold the Power key for up to 45 seconds.
  • Wait as the device restarts.

Check if the problem occurs in Safe Mode

There are instances when an app you downloaded from the Google Play Store can cause this particular issue. This can be because of bugs in the app or incompatibility issues between the app and your phone. To check if this is what’s causing the problem you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • Turn Off your phone.
  • Press and Hold the Power Button.
  • Release Power button and hold Volume Down Key when you see the Oppo animation.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down Key until Safe Mode appears.

If your phone starts in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app is causing the problem then uninstall it.

Finding the particular app is a trial and error method. Start by uninstalling the most recent app you downloaded before the problem occurred then check if the screen still flickers. Repeat this step until the issue will not occur anymore after uninstalling a particular app. This last app is most likely the cause of the problem.

Try to wipe the cache partition

There are instances when a corrupted system cached data can cause this problem. It’s therefore a good idea to delete this data as the phone will just rebuild this data when it starts again.

  • Press down the Power key and select the Power off option. If the screen is frozen or unresponsive, you can hold down the Power key for several seconds until the device switches off.
  • Press the Volume Down and Power keys for a few moments.
  • Release all buttons when the OPPO logo appears.
  • Select language.
  • Select Wipe Cache Partition.
  • Tap ok
  • Reboot the phone.

  • Select  Wipe data and Wipe data(Keep SMS, Contacts and Photos).
  • Tap ok
  • Reboot the phone.

If the above steps doesn’t fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already.
