How To Fix The LG V30S ThinQ Mobile Network Not Available Issue

Whenever you experience issues with your phone, it’s always best to make sure that the device is running on the latest software version before doing any of the troubleshooting steps listed below. If an update is available then you should download and install it first. It is important that you should check for carrier related software updates as this will usually address carrier related connectivity bugs.

Verify that your area has a good network signal

There are certain areas or location where your carrier will not have any signal. When you are in this area your phone will usually get the mobile network not available error. To verify if this is a coverage related issue you can check if other devices under the same network are also having the same problem in your immediate vicinity.

If you are in an area that has excellent network coverage but your phone is not getting any signal at all then there’s a possibility that the problem is caused by a network outage. You should contact your carrier to verify if there is an outage and if there is none then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

Perform a soft reset

Your phone will usually save the data that is constantly used to make it run better. This data  however can sometimes get corrupted which in turn can cause this problem. If this is what’s causing the problem then you will need to refresh your phone software. Aside from removing the temporary data from the phone this will also reset the phone connection to the network which is helpful in this case.

  • Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
  • Wait as the device restarts.

Check your SIM card

There are instances when the problem can be caused by an issue with the SIM card. If this is a SIM card related problem then you can try fixing this by turning off the phone and removing the SIM card. Wait for a few minutes before reinserting the SIM card back then turn on the phone. Check if the issue still occurs.

You can also try using a different SIM card in your phone to eliminate the possibility of the problem being caused by a defective SIM card.

Verify the roaming status of the phone

You should make sure that the roaming status of the phone is off if you are in your home country. This applies to travelers who have just  returned from a different country and still have the roaming status of the device activated.

  • Select Settings
  • Select Network
  • Scroll to and select Mobile networks
  • Turn Data roaming  off

Make sure Airplane Mode is off

The airplane mode is a setting that is turned on  when you are in an airplane so that the phone will not interfere with the aircraft electronic equipment. If you are getting the LG V30S mobile network not available issue then you should make sure that airplane mode is off or you can try toggling this switch if it is already in the off position.

Change your phone network mode

Make sure that your phone is using the correct network mode that matches the one your carrier is using. For most GSM carriers you will need your phone to be set to 4G or LTE.

  • From the Home screen go to Settings then  Network & internet.
  • Tap Mobile networks.
  • Tap System select.
  • Tap Network mode then make sure to select LTE/GSM/UMTS.

Start the phone in Safe Mode

Sometimes an app you downloaded from the Google Play Store will cause issues on the phone when it is installed. This can be because of bugs in the app or compatibility issues between the app and your phone. To check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • With the screen on, press and hold the Power key.
  • In the options menu that displays, press and hold Power off.
  • When prompted to restart in Safe Mode, tap OK.
  • After your device restarts, it displays Safe mode at the bottom of the screen.

In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

There are cases when the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  • Tap the ‘General’ tab.
  • Tap Storage > Internal storage.
  • Wait for menu options to finish calculating.
  • Tap Free up space.
  • Tap Temporary files & raw files.
  • Select the following options: Cached data, Clip tray temporary files, Raw files from camera.
  • Tap Delete > DELETE

Perform a factory reset

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then one final troubleshooting step to consider is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons.
  • When the LG logo appears, quickly release and then re-hold the Power button while continuing to hold the Volume down button.
  • When the ‘Delete all user data (including LG and carrier apps) and reset all settings’ message appears, use the Volume down button to highlight Yes.
  • Press the Power button to reset the device.

If the issue still persists even after performing the steps listed above then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
