How To Fix The Huawei Y9 Won’t Turn On Issue

Most of the time this is caused by a faulty hardware component however there are instances when a software glitch is the culprit. Listed below are the recommended troubleshooting steps you need to do to fix this problem.

Make sure the phone battery is charged

The first thing you will need to do is to make sure that the problem is not caused by a drained battery. Follow the steps listed below to charge your phone.

• Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
• Fully charge the phone using its wall charger.
• In case the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port in case charging using the wall charger fails to work.

Once the battery has been fully charged try turning on the phone. If it still does not turn on then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

Perform a soft reset

Try to refresh the phone software to eliminate the possibility of the problem being caused by a corrupt temporary data. Although this is usually done on an unresponsive device it should also work in this case as it will refresh the phone software. This can be done easily by simply restarting the device.

• Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
• Wait as the device restarts.

Start the phone in Safe Mode

There are cases when an app you downloaded from the Google Play Store will cause issues on the phone when it is installed. To check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

• Power off the phone by holding down the power button for a few seconds.
• Press and hold the power button and release it when you see the Huawei logo on screen.
• After releasing the Power key, immediately press and hold the Volume down key.
• Keep holding the Volume key till the phone completely boots up.
• Once the phone boots up,  “Safe mode” should appear on the bottom of the screen

In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. You will need to perform a trial and error method to find out what app is causing the problem.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

There are cases when the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

• Turn off your phone.
• Press and hold the Volume UP button along with Power button on your  device simultaneously for a few seconds
• The phone will enter the stock recovery mode
• Use volume buttons to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’ and use power key to select it
• Reboot the system once the process is completed

Check if the Huawei Y9 won’t turn on issue still occurs.

Perform a factory reset

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then the best way to deal with this right now is to perform a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that when you perform this step your phone data will be deleted.

• Turn off your phone.
• Press and hold the Volume UP button along with Power button on your  device simultaneously for a few seconds
• The phone will enter the stock recovery mode
• Use volume buttons to highlight  select wipe cache/factory reset and use power key to select it
