How To Fix The Huawei Y6 Won’t Connect To Wi-Fi Issue
Make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version before performing the troubleshooting steps listed below. If an update is available then you should download and install it first. This will minimize the possibility of the problem being caused by an outdated software version. Once the latest software update has been installed proceed with the steps listed below.
Don’t forget to turn on the Wi-Fi switch
Android devices have a Wi-Fi switch which can be found in its Settings. This needs to be turned on so that it can search and connect to a Wi-Fi network. There are instances when this switch is in the off position making it seem that there is a Wi-Fi problem. What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that the Wi-Fi of the phone is switched on.
- Select Settings
- Select Wireless & networks
- Select Wi-Fi
- Turn on Wi-Fi
Try to check if the phone can now connect to the Wi-Fi network.
Check if the problem is caused by the router
Sometimes this problem is caused by a router issue and not a phone issue. This is why as early as now you will need to eliminate the router as a possible cause of the problem. Can other wireless devices connect to the router successfully? Does the router have a setting activated (MAC Filtering)that is blocking your phone from connecting to it? One quick way to check if this is a router related issue is to try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network then check if the issue still occurs.
Perform a soft reset
There are cases when the temporary data stored by the phone can get corrupted. When this happens certain issues can occur. What you will want to do if this is what’s causing the problem is to refresh the phone software which can be done easily by simply restarting the device.
- Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
- Wait as the device restarts.
Check if the Huawei Y6 won’t connect to Wi-Fi issue still occurs.
Reset the phone network settings
This step is usually done whenever the phone is having a problem connecting to a data network. The following changes will occur on your phone.
- Stored Wi-Fi networks will be deleted.
- Paired Bluetooth devices will be deleted.
- Background data sync settings will be turned on.
- Data restrictive settings in applications that were manually turned on/off by the customer will be reset to the default setting.
- Network selection mode will be set to automatic.
To reset the network settings of your device:
- Turn on the mobile by pressing the Power key for a few moments
- Choose Settings and System.
- Tap Reset.
- Open Network Settings Reset.
- Select Network Settings Reset and tap Network Settings Reset one more time.
Connect to the wireless network again ( take note that you will have to enter the network password again) then check if the issue still occurs.
Start the phone in Safe Mode
There are cases when an app you downloaded will cause the Huawei Y6 won’t connect to Wi-Fi issue when it is installed. To check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.
- Power off the phone by holding down the power button for a few seconds.
- Press and hold the power button and release it when you see the Huawei logo on screen.
- After releasing the Power key, immediately press and hold the Volume down key.
- Keep holding the Volume key till the phone completely boots up.
- Once the phone boots up, “Safe mode” should appear on the bottom of the screen
In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
Wipe the cache partition of the phone
Sometimes the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Turn off your phone.
- Press and hold the Volume UP button along with Power button on your device simultaneously for a few seconds
- The phone will enter the stock recovery mode
- Use volume buttons to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’ and use power key to select it
- Reboot the system once the process is completed
Check if the issue still occurs.
Perform a factory reset
In case the above steps fails to fix the Huawei Y6 Prime won’t connect to Wi-Fi issue then the best way to deal with this right now is to perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
- Turn off your phone.
- Press and hold the Volume UP button along with Power button on your device simultaneously for a few seconds
- The phone will enter the stock recovery mode
- Use volume buttons to highlight select wipe cache/factory reset and use power key to select it
