Check if the problem is caused by the router

There are instances when the problem is caused by the router and not by your phone. It’s best to check this early if the router is causing this problem. Can other devices connect to the router successfully? Does the router have a setting activated ( MAC filtering) that is blocking your phone from connecting to it? The best way to check if this is a router related issue is to try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network then check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a soft reset

Sometimes the problem can be caused by corrupt temporary data stored in the phone. What you will want to do is to refresh the phone software which will eliminate this temporary data and can be done easily by simply restarting the device.

  • Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
  • Wait as the device restarts.

Start the phone in Safe Mode

There are cases when an app you downloaded from the Google Play Store will cause issues on the phone when it is installed. To check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • Power off the phone by holding down the power button for a few seconds.
  • Press and hold the power button and release it when you see the Honor logo on screen.
  • After releasing the Power key, immediately press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Keep holding the Volume key till the phone completely boots up.
  • Once the phone boots up,  “Safe mode” should be appeared on the bottom of the screen

In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

Sometimes the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • Turn off your phone.
  • Press and hold Volume UP button along with Power button on your  device simultaneously for a few seconds
  • The phone will enter the stock recovery mode
  • Use volume buttons to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’ and use power key to select it
  • Reboot the system once the process is completed

Check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a factory reset

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then the best way to deal with this right now is to perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

  • Turn off your phone.
  • Press and hold Volume UP button along with Power button on your  device simultaneously for a few seconds
  • The phone will enter the stock recovery mode
  • Use volume buttons to highlight  select wipe cache/factory reset and use power key to select it
  • Reboot the system once the process is completed

Setup the phone then check if the issue still persists. If it does then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
