How To Fix The Honor Magic 2 Won’t Connect To Wi-Fi Issue

Before you do the recommended troubleshooting steps on this device it’s best to make sure that it is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first.

Turn on the phone Wi-Fi switch

Your phone has a Wi-Fi switch which needs to be activated so that the device can connect to a Wi-Fi network. The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the Wi-Fi switch of the phone is turned on. This might seem like an obvious troubleshooting step but there are cases when the phone owner forgets to turn it on which is why the phone won’t connect to the Wi-Fi network.

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap Select Wireless & networks
  • Select Wi-Fi
  • Turn on Wi-Fi
  • Select the wireless network you want to connect to
  • Enter the Wi-Fi password and select CONNECT

Check if the issue is fixed.

Check if the problem is caused by the router

Try to check if the router is causing this problem. Can other devices connect to the router successfully? Does the router have a setting activated ( MAC filtering) that is blocking your phone from connecting to it? The best way to check if this is a router related issue is to try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network then check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a soft reset

One you have made sure that the problem is not caused by the router it’s time to troubleshoot the phone. What you will want to do is to refresh the phone software which can be done easily by simply restarting the device.

  • Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
  • Wait as the device restarts.

Check if the Honor Magic 2 won’t connect to Wi-Fi issue still occurs.

Reset the phone network settings

This step is usually done whenever the phone is having a problem connecting to a data network.  The following changes will occur on your phone.

  • Stored Wi-Fi networks will be deleted.
  • Paired Bluetooth devices will be deleted.
  • Background data sync settings will be turned on.
  • Data restrictive settings in applications that were manually turned on/off by the customer will be reset to the default setting.
  • Network selection mode will be set to automatic.

To reset the network settings of your device:

  • Go to Settings and Advanced settings.
  • Tap Backup & reset.
  • Tap Network Settings Reset.
  • Select Network Settings Reset, and confirm the whole operation tapping Network Settings Reset one more time.

Check if the issue still occurs.

Start the phone in Safe Mode

There are cases when an app you downloaded from the Google Play Store will cause issues on the phone when it is installed. To check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • Power off the phone by holding down the power button for a few seconds.
  • Press and hold the power button and release it when you see the Honor logo on screen.
  • After releasing the Power key, immediately press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Keep holding the Volume key till the phone completely boots up.
  • Once the phone boots up,  “Safe mode” should be appeared on the bottom of the screen

In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

There are cases when the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up button.
  • While holding the Volume Up button, connect USB charger to the phone.
  • Within a few seconds, your phone will boot into the recovery mode.
  • Now, remove the USB charger.
  • Use volume buttons to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’ and use power key to select it
  • Reboot the system once the process is completed

Check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a factory reset

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then there is a possibility that this is caused by a system glitch. The best way to deal with this right now is to perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up button.
  • While holding the Volume Up button, connect USB charger to the phone.
  • Within a few seconds, your phone will boot into the recovery mode.
  • Now, remove the USB charger.
  • Use volume buttons to highlight  select wipe cache/factory reset and use power key to select it
  • Reboot the system once the process is completed

Setup the phone then check if the issue still persists. If it does then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
