Charging problems may occur even to high-end devices like the new Samsung Galaxy A9. The thing about these kinds of problems is that they can be minor or very complicated ones. Provided that it’s not a manufacturing defect, there’s a chance you can make your phone charge again as long as it hasn’t been a result of either physical or liquid damage.
In this post, I will walk you through in troubleshooting your Galaxy A9 that would no longer respond when connected to its charger. While it does support fast charging, it doesn’t have a wireless charging feature so we’ll focus on wired charging. Continue reading as this article may be able to help you one way or another.

Now, here are the things you have to do to fix your Galaxy A9 that’s not charging…
- Make sure the charger is plug into a working wall outlet.
- Use only the original charger and cable.
- Check for any obstruction in charger port, cable and phone’s charging port.
- Try connecting the phone to a computer and see if it charges.
- Perform the forced restart procedure.
- Check for clear signs of physical and/or liquid damage.
As always, the first thing you need to check is the power source since we’re talking about charging here. There are several ways to properly and safely check the wall outlet to see if there’s current flowing through it. The best example is to plug an appliance and see if it turns on or works. If it does, then you can plug the charger into it.
The next thing is to make sure you’re using the original charger and cable because if not, then that could be the reason why your device no longer charges. However, if it’s not possible, then use a charger and cable that works. If you have other phones, test them to see if they charge using the charger you want to use on your Galaxy A9. If they do and your phone doesn’t respond to it, then move on to the next procedure.
Anything that obstructs electricity should be removed. You have to check the port on your charger. Just look into it and see if you can find foreign materials. If there is, then it would be easier to get rid of. Next, check both ends of the cable for the same thing. Anything that don’t belong should be removed. Lastly, check the charging port on your phone itself. After check all these and there’s nothing that obstructs charging, then move on the next method.
Find out if your phone gets detected by the computer. Using the original cable, connect the device to a computer or laptop to see if it gets detected and/or recognized. If the computer cannot detect it, it could mean that the cable is broken or the problem is with your phone’s charging port. Needless to say, try to connect your phone to a computer using another cable and if it still not getting detected, then the problem could hardware-related. Still, try to do the next procedures to see if one of them works.
There are times that even if the phone is powered on, it won’t charge because some services aren’t working really well. The best way to address this is to perform the forced restart procedure; press the volume down button and the power key at the same time and hold them both for 10 seconds or more. The phone will reboot like it normally does but its memory will be refreshed and its apps and services reloaded. Try to see if it charges this time because if it does, then the problem was a minor firmware issue. However, if it still doesn’t charge then something serious might have happened to it.
The most common causes of this problem is physical and/or liquid damage. I understand that looking for signs of physical and liquid damage won’t do anything to fix the problem but then again, it will give you an idea or answer your question why the phone no longer charges. Regardless whether there are signs of physical and/or liquid damage, you still have to bring your phone to the store or shop so that a technician can check it for you. At this point, it’s safe to assume that it’s a hardware problem and there’s only so much you can do about it.
