In troubleshooting this type of issue, there are number of factors that you need to consider to figure it out what the real problem is. Since it’s not the first time we encounter and address this issue, I will share with you the solutions we’ve been using to fix this problem. Read on…

First Solution: Boot your Galaxy A8 in Safe Mode

The purpose of rebooting your Galaxy A8 in Safe Mode is to eliminate the suspicion that a third-party app triggered the device to reboot randomly. We have to stop all your downloaded apps from running and you can do that by running your device in safe mode. Don’t worry, this is a very safe procedure and you won’t lose any of your files and data by doing this…

  1. Turn off your phone.
  2. Press and hold the Power button for a few seconds.
  3. When the Samsung logo appears, release the Power button then immediately hold the Volume Down button.
  4. Keep holding the Volume Down button until the phone reboots.
  5. When your phone boots up, you will see the Safe Mode label at the bottom left corner of the screen.

Once you’ve successfully booted your Samsung Galaxy A8 in Safe mode and it’s not rebooting then, obviously one of the apps you installed is causing the problem. You need to find and uninstall the app to get rid this issue.

However, if the phone continues to reboot by itself even in safe mode, then the problem could be in the firmware. Try the next step.

Second Solution: Wipe the System Cache Partition

As what I’ve said earlier, random reboots can also be triggered by corrupt system caches or files. To rule out the issue, what we have to do is to wipe off the cache directory of your phone to be sure that the files or caches are new. You will need to run your phone in recovery mode and wipe cache partition from there. Just like running the device in safe mode, this method is also safe for both your device and data. You won’t lose anything if you did this…

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds, then ‘No command’ before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe cache partition”.
  5. Press Power button to select.
  6. Press the Volume down key to highlight “yes” and press the Power key to select.
  7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
  8. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Continue using your phone like you always do after this to test if the random reboots are gone. If they still occur on your device, however, then it’s time to move on to the next procedure.

Third Solution: Backup your files and reset your Galaxy A8

Assuming that these random reboots started without apparent reason or cause (no physical and liquid damage), then it’s purely a firmware issue and a master reset will be able to fix it. This is your last resort and this is a very effective method so you should do this. The downside is all of your files and data will be lost so, before you follow the steps we suggest you to make a backup of you important files and data. After backing up all your files be sure to disable your Factory Reset Protection (FRP) so that you won’t be locked out of your device after the reset. You just have to remove your google account from your phone to disable FRP. Once you’ve done that, follow these steps to reset your device.

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds, then ‘No command’ before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe data / factory reset.
  5. Press Power button to select.
  6. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  7. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  8. When the master reset is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

If the problem continues after doing all these things, then you should consult a technician. The firmware may need to be reinstalled to fix this problem and while you can do that on your own, there’s always a risk that you brick your device. It’s better to let the authorized technician do it for you.
