First solution: Turn your phone off and on (power cycle).

Mobile devices, particularly smartphones may encounter various types of software errors and glitches. Should this be the first time you encounter a No SIM card error on your LG V35 ThinQ, then most likely it’s a software glitch. A simple suggested solution to this would be a device restart or soft reset. If you haven’t already, then follow these steps to power cycle or soft reset your LG V35 ThinQ smartphone:

  1. Press and hold the Power/Lock button on the back of the phone.
  2. Select Power off option.
  3. Then tap Power Off again to confirm.
  4. After about 30 seconds, press and hold the Power/Lock button until the lights up.

Alternatively, you can do these:

  1. Press and hold the Power/Lock button then select Restart from the menu options.
  2. If the device becomes unresponsive, press and hold the Volume Down and Power/Lock buttons simultaneously for about 10 seconds and then release both buttons when the phone restarts.

A soft reset won’t affect any data you’ve saved on the internal memory, so you won’t lose any information in the process.

Second solution: Remove and reseat the SIM card.

You can’t neglect the possibility that the SIM card might have been dislodged or not properly seated in the tray, and so your device is unable to read it. To make sure this isn’t the underlying cause, try to remove and reseat the SIM card on your LG V35 ThinQ. The SIM card and microSD card on the LG V35 ThinQ smartphone are installed in a single tray located on the right side of the device. To remove/insert the SIM card or microSD card, simply follow these steps:

  1. Power off your device.
  2. Insert the SIM eject tool or paperclip into the small hole to eject the SIM & microSD card tray.
  3. Gently pull out the SIM card from the tray.
  4. Examine the card and tray for any visible signs of damage like scratches or dents. If there’s none, place the SIM card back into the correct card slot with gold contacts facing down and the notched edge on the upper left.
  5. Gently press the SIM card in until it clicks into place.
  6. If necessary, insert the microSD card in the SD card slot, with the gold contacts facing down and the notched edge on the upper left then gently press in until it clicks into place.
  7. Insert the SIM & microSD tray back into the phone and make sure it’s locked and secured.

Then turn on your phone then see if that fixes the No SIM card error. If the error persists, then you should consider performing software resets. Continue to the next method.

Third solution: Reset network settings on the LG V35 ThinQ.

Performing a network settings reset can also be the key to fixing the error if it’s associated with invalid network settings or options on the phone. This is likely the case if you happened to modify network settings on your phone or after installing a new software update. Some updates may tend to override a device settings automatically, which eventually resulted to a conflict or error. To rule this out, try to perform a network settings reset to restore the default network configurations on your phone and then you can re-enable necessary options and services including Wi-Fi. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Tap Settings from the Main Menu.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Scroll to and tap Backup & reset.
  4. Tap Network Settings Reset.
  5. Tap Reset Settings twice to confirm.

After the network settings reset, reboot or soft reset your phone to clear the cache from the internal memory and to refresh the operating system too.

Fourth solution: Update software to the latest version available.

Installing the latest software version on your phone is also a potential solution especially if the No SIM card error is triggered by software bugs or malware. Software updates not only bring new features but also offer security patches or bug fixes to get rid of any bug-inflicted issues on the phone. To check for and install new software update on your LG V35 ThinQ smartphone, simply follow these steps:

  1. Swipe down from the Notification bar.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Go to the General tab.
  4. Select About phone.
  5. Tap Software info to view the Android version, Baseband version, and Software version of the device.
  6. To check for software updates, head to the About section.
  7. Then tap Software Update.
  8. Select Update now.

You will see a notification if an update is available. To instigate software update, just follow the onscreen instructions. Otherwise, tap OK on the message prompt to close it.

Don’t forget to restart your device when it’s done installing the new update. Doing so will prevent it or any apps from glitching.

Fifth solution: Reset and restore LG V35 ThinQ to its factory defaults (master reset).

You may have to perform a master reset as your last resort to rule out complex system errors from the possible triggers. The problem can be due to a more intricate system error that can only be remedied by a total system wipe out. Should you wish to continue, be sure to back up all your important data beforehand. A factory data reset or master reset will erase all data on your device and restore it to factory defaults. Here’s how to factory data reset an LG V35 ThinQ smartphone:

  1. Swipe down from the Notification bar.
  2. Select the Settings icon.
  3. Tap General tab.
  4. Scroll to and select Reset.
  5. Then tap Factory data reset from the given options.
  6. Tap Reset phone then Delete All to confirm.

Allow your device to clear all data, preferences, settings and multimedia contents. After the reset, the phone will revert back to factory settings. When the reset is finished, you can set up your phone as new.

Any software-related errors including the No SIM card error should no longer be occurring by then unless a faulty hardware is causing it. If the error persists, then you’ll have to consider other options including service.

Seek further assistance

If your LG V35 ThinQ is still showing a No SIM card error after exhausting all applicable workarounds on your end, contact your carrier or service provider for other options. If necessary, you can request for a new SIM card replacement. The SIM card might have been damaged and so your phone can no longer read it.

Alternatively, you can take your device to the nearest LG service center in your place for hardware damage assessment. This is a must do if there were prior instances of dropping or liquid exposure on the phone. There might be some sort of physical or liquid damage on the device that needs repair.
