How to fix LG G6 Plus that keeps on rebooting (easy steps)

Some users of the LG G6 Plus, one of the new phones released by the company this year, have been complaining about an issue wherein the phone reportedly keeps rebooting by itself without apparent reason or cause. Now, when it comes to booting issues that occur out of the blue, they’re often due to some minor problems with the firmware unless there’s an issue with the battery. How to make LG G6 Plus that keeps rebooting working perfectly again

First off, I will share with you the solution to the problem that occurred without apparent reason or cause because more often, it’s just due to some corrupt system caches. If it can’t be fixed by said solution, then take time to troubleshoot your device to know more about the problem.

Solution: Delete all system caches

By doing this, you’re not just actually deleting the system caches, you’re replacing them with new ones. Don’t worry, everything is done by the firmware and all you gotta do is delete those files. Here’s how you do it on your LG G6 Plus:

  1. From the home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, select the General tab.
  3. Tap Storage > Internal storage.
  4. Wait for the menu options to finish calculating.
  5. Tap Cached data > CLEAR.
  6. Wait for the cached data to clear; depending on size, it will take several seconds to complete.
  7. When complete, the storage screen refreshes and Cached data shows as 0 B. This means your cached data has been successfully cleared.

After this, observe your phone closely to know if it still reboots on its own and if it does, then you have to troubleshoot it to have a shot at fixing the problem.

Run phone in safe mode to know if it would still reboot

By doing this, you’re temporarily disabling all third-party apps. Running the phone in this mode doesn’t actually fix the problem but it will tell you if the issue is caused by a third-party app or not because if it is, then your device should work perfectly in this mode. In such case, the next thing you should do is find the app that’s causing the problem and uninstall it. Now, here’s how you run your phone in Safe mode:

  1. With the screen on, press and hold the Power key.
  2. In the options menu that displays, press and hold Power off.
  3. When ‘Restart in Safe mode’ displays, tap OK to restart in Safe mode.
  4. Upon restart, device displays ‘Safe mode’ at bottom of screen.

And this is how you uninstall an app from your LG L6 Plus…

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, select the General tab.
  3. Tap Apps.
  4. Tap the drop-down to view apps by All apps, Enabled, Disabled.
  5. Tap the desired app.
  6. Tap Uninstall > OK.

If the phone continues to reboot on its own after uninstall apps you suspect are causing the problem or if the device still reboots in safe mode, then move on to the next step.

Backup your files and reset your phone

Provided that the problem started without apparent reason or cause, then you should be able to fix it by doing a reset. This will bring the phone back to its factory settings and delete all your files and data so make sure you make a backup of your important files.

  1. Back up data on the internal memory.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons.
  4. When the LG logo appears, quickly release and then re-hold the Power button while continuing to hold the Volume down button.
  5. When Factory data reset appears, use the Volume down button to highlight Yes.
  6. Press the Power button to confirm.
  7. When Erase all user data and restore default settings appears, use the Volume down button to highlight Yes.
  8. Press the Power button to confirm.
  9. Wait for the device to reset.

You may also reset your phone through the Settings menu…

  1. Back up data on the internal memory.
  2. From any home screen, taps Apps > Settings.
  3. If using Tab view, select the General tab.
  4. Tap Backup & reset.
  5. Select or clear the following check boxes:
    • Back up my data
    • Automatic restore
  6. Tap Backup account and follow the steps to create Google backup account.
  7. Tap Factory data reset.
  8. Review the warning message, then select or clear Erase SD card.
  9. Tap RESET PHONE.
  10. Enter PIN, if prompted, then tap OK.
  11. Tap Delete all > RESET.
