How to Fix iPhone 17 Safari Not Working After iOS 26.3 Update

If Safari refuses to load websites, freezes on a blank page, or crashes on your iPhone 17 after iOS 26.3, the issue is usually linked to broken website data, an extension conflict, or a network setting that changed during the update. The steps below focus on restoring Safari first, then fixing the iPhone settings that often block web access after a patch.

Fix #1: Force close Safari and reboot the iPhone 17

This clears a stuck browser process and is the fastest fix to try.

  1. Open the App Switcher.
  2. Swipe up on Safari to force close it.
  3. Turn the iPhone off.
  4. Turn it back on after a few seconds.
  5. Open Safari and test multiple sites.

Fix #2: Clear Safari history and website data

Cached website files can become incompatible right after an iOS update.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Apps > Safari.
  3. Tap Clear History and Website Data.
  4. Confirm the prompt.
  5. Try Safari again.

Fix #3: Disable extensions, content blockers, and experimental features

One broken add-on or browser flag can stop Safari from working normally.

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Safari > Extensions.
  2. Turn off all extensions.
  3. Disable any content blockers.
  4. If you enabled Safari experimental settings before, turn them off.
  5. Relaunch Safari and test browsing.

Fix #4: Check network access, VPN, and Private Relay

Safari may fail because traffic is being filtered or routed incorrectly.

  1. Try the same website on Wi-Fi and cellular data.
  2. Turn off any VPN app temporarily.
  3. Open Settings > Apple Account > iCloud > Private Relay.
  4. Disable Private Relay for testing.
  5. Open Safari again and check whether pages load.

Fix #5: Reset network settings

This removes broken DNS, VPN, and wireless settings that often affect Safari after updates.

  1. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset.
  2. Tap Reset Network Settings.
  3. Enter your passcode.
  4. Let the iPhone restart.
  5. Reconnect to Wi-Fi and test Safari.

Fix #6: Check Screen Time restrictions

Web restrictions can sometimes reactivate or become more restrictive after an update.

  1. Open Settings > Screen Time.
  2. Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions.
  3. Open the web content settings.
  4. Make sure websites are not being blocked unintentionally.
  5. Return to Safari and test it.

Fix #7: Install a newer iOS build or reset all settings

If Safari started failing only after iOS 26.3, the longer-term fix may be in the next point release.

  1. Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
  2. Install any available update.
  3. If nothing new is available, back up the iPhone.
  4. Use Reset All Settings.
  5. Test Safari again before moving to a full erase.
