How to Fix Galaxy S26 USB-C Port Not Working After Update

If the Galaxy S26 USB-C port suddenly stops charging, transferring files, or detecting accessories after an update, the cause is usually software-level USB handling, debris inside the port, or a charging setting that was changed during the update. The steps below target both charging and data detection problems so you can narrow down whether the issue is in the port, the cable, or the firmware.

Fix #1: Restart the phone and test with a different cable and charger

A simple reboot plus a known-good accessory set can rule out a temporary update bug or a bad cable right away.

  1. Restart the Galaxy S26.
  2. Use an original or high-quality USB-C cable.
  3. Try a different wall charger and a different power outlet.
  4. If possible, test the same cable with another phone.
  5. Check whether charging or file transfer starts working again.

Fix #2: Inspect and clean the USB-C port carefully

Lint or dust can prevent a proper connection even when the port looks clean from the outside.

  1. Turn the phone off.
  2. Use a flashlight to inspect the USB-C port.
  3. If you see debris, gently remove it with a wooden or plastic toothpick.
  4. Do not use metal tools.
  5. Reconnect the cable and test charging again.

Fix #3: Check USB preferences and the moisture warning

After an update, USB defaults or port protection alerts can block normal operation.

  1. Unlock the phone and connect it to a computer.
  2. Pull down the notification shade.
  3. Tap the USB notification and choose File transfer or Charging.
  4. If a moisture warning appears, disconnect the cable and let the port dry fully before trying again.
  5. Restart once the warning is gone.

Fix #4: Enable fast charging settings again

Some users find that charging-related toggles reset or behave differently after a firmware update.

  1. Open Settings > Battery.
  2. Tap Charging settings.
  3. Enable Fast charging if it is off.
  4. Reconnect the charger.
  5. Check whether the phone now recognizes wired charging normally.

Fix #5: Test in Safe Mode

Third-party battery managers, file-transfer tools, and USB utility apps can interfere with port behavior.

  1. Open the power menu.
  2. Touch and hold Power off.
  3. Tap Safe mode.
  4. Once the phone restarts, connect a cable and test charging and file transfer.
  5. If it works, remove recently installed utility or battery apps after returning to normal mode.

Fix #6: Wipe the cache partition

This can clear broken system cache files affecting the USB subsystem after the update.

  1. Power the phone off.
  2. Boot into Recovery Mode using Volume up and the Side button.
  3. Choose Wipe cache partition.
  4. Confirm the action.
  5. Select Reboot system now.

Fix #7: Reset all settings or back up and factory reset

If the USB-C port still is not detected after the update, the firmware settings may need a clean reset.

  1. Go to Settings > General management > Reset.
  2. Tap Reset all settings first.
  3. Test the port again.
  4. If the problem remains, back up your files.
  5. Perform a factory reset and test the USB-C port before reinstalling all apps.
