If Bose speaker does not turn on, try the following methods below to fix the problem with the Bluetooth speaker:
Method 1: Check if Power Outlet is Functioning
The very first thing that you need to do to try fixing this problem is to make sure that the power outlet that the speaker is connected to for charging is working. It is possible that Bose speaker does not turn ON because it was not fully charged or the battery was not charged at all due to a faulty power outlet.
An easy way to know is to plug the speaker to the power outlet. Normally, when the speaker is plugged into the power outlet it will play or emit a tone or a sound. If the tone is not heard after you plug, the next thing to do is to connect another working electronic device to the same power outlet and then check if the electronic device is working or not.
Method 2: Use a different charger
Charging time for a Bluetooth speaker varies with the type of charger being used to charge just like with any other electronic device. Using a charger with a current rating of 1.6 amp or 1600 milliamp or higher tends to charge more faster as compared to a lower current rating that charges slowly and for some does not charge at all. Current ratings can be found as a small text with A (Amp) or mA (Milliamp) on the USB charger
Try using a different charger that can charge the Bluetooth speaker faster and then check if Bose speaker does not turn ON problem still occurs.
Method 3: Do not press and hold Power Button
Pressing the button briefly is different from pressing the button of the speaker for a few seconds. There’s a possibility that the method to turn ON the speaker is incorrect. The difference between the two is that, pressing the button briefly actually turns the speaker ON or OFF, however, if you press and hold the button for a few seconds only checks battery level of the speaker and does not actually turn it ON. It is likely possible that the speaker did not turn ON because perhaps you did press and hold the button instead of just pressing it briefly.
Make sure to know the difference between the two functions and then check if Bose speaker does not turn ON problem still occurs.
Method 4: Enable Shipping Mode
Ship mode is a feature of Bose speaker that protects the product if not being used to a longer period of time or in this case the speaker does not turns ON. Enabling ship mode reboots the speaker however saved settings will not be deleted.
To enable Ship mode:
- Connect speaker to the power outlet.
- Press and hold the multi function button for 10 seconds. Multi function button is the 3 dots located in between the volume up and volume down
- While still holding the multi function button unplug the speaker from the power outlet then release.
- Once speaker is in ship mode, connect the speaker to power outlet again. This will exit ship mode. Allow the speaker to charge for about an hour.
After charging for an hour, try to turn ON speaker and then check if Bose speaker does not turn ON problem still occurs.
Method 5: Check for and install updates
Make sure to always check for and install any available updates for the speaker. Updating speaker fixes bugs that may have caused this problem to occur and other software related issues as well.
There are two options to choose from:
- Via Bose Connect app. An app that is free to download on App store or Play store for any smartphone
