How to Disable Samsung Galaxy Background Apps

Background apps on your Samsung Galaxy can drain battery life and slow down performance. This guide will show you different ways to disable background apps and optimize your device for better efficiency.

Manually closing background apps frees up memory and prevents unnecessary battery drain.

  1. Open Recent Apps: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold, or tap the Recent Apps button.
  2. Find the App to Close: Scroll through the open apps to locate the ones you want to disable.
  3. Swipe to Close: Swipe the app off the screen to shut it down.
  4. Tap “Close All”: If you want to close all background apps at once, tap the “Close All” button at the bottom.

2. Disable Background Activity for Specific Apps

You can prevent certain apps from running in the background to save battery and system resources.

  1. Open Settings: Launch the Settings app on your Samsung Galaxy.

Enabling developer settings allows you to set a limit on background processes for better performance.

  1. Enable Developer Mode:
    • Open “Settings” and go to “About Phone.”

    • Find “Build Number” and tap it seven times until you see “Developer mode has been enabled.”

  2. Open the App Manager: Launch the downloaded app and grant necessary permissions.
  3. Select Background Apps to Hibernate: Choose the apps you want to stop from running in the background.
  4. Enable Auto-Hibernation (If Available): Some apps offer automatic hibernation features to keep apps inactive.
