Google Pixelbook Vs HP Chromebook 14 Best Chromebook in 2024

Not sure whether to pick up a Google Pixelbook or the HP Chromebook 14? It can be a tough decision — on one hand, you have a luxury high-end Chromebook in the Pixelbook, but on the other, you get a functioning Chromebook for a whole lot less than it costs for the Pixelbook. You do get two completely different hardware packages, two different display packages, and not to even mention that the design difference is night and day. However, both are formidable Chromebooks that will function pretty much the same.

Google Pixelbook

First up, we have the Google Pixelbook. The Pixelbook is the successor to the Pixel Chromebook line that Google killed off a couple years ago. Now, it’s back with a fresh new design, taking on a similar tone to the MacBook Pro. The big difference is that you get a different style keyboard, and the chassis is a slightly lighter color tone. Beyond that, the chassis you get has a nice, sleek finish that gives the Pixelbook a luxurious feel.

Not only that, but you get a premium hardware package. Not many Chromebooks offer an Intel Core i5 or Intel Core i7, but the Google Pixelbook does. In addition, you get options up to 16GB of RAM and a whopping 512GB of storage. It’s a slick hardware package that will be able to handle anything you throw at it. And traditionally, Chromebooks only come with up to 64GB of storage, but with the 512GB of storage in the Google Pixelbook, you’ll be able to store documents, all of your favorite photos, videos and other important files.

The display on the Google Pixelbook is super nice as well. You get a smaller 12.3-inch screen, but it’s pushing a ton of pixels (2,600 x 1,600), so you’ll get the most detailed picture possible, whether you’re watching a movie, TV or regular video. It makes it the perfect choice for photo editing, too. And, the battery is rated to last up to ten hours off of a single charge. Run out of juice, throw it on the wire for 15 minutes, and with fast charging technology built-in, you get two hours of juice to keep things running smoothly.

HP Chromebook 14

The HP Chromebook 14 is a lot different from the Google Pixelbook — it’s more of a budget laptop in this case. The chassis is what you would expect with a budget laptop — it’s fairly cheap, clunks and big.

As far as the hardware package goes, you get a low powered 14-inch 1,366 x 768 display. It’s not pushing a lot of pixels, so you won’t get the crisp clear clarity you would expect out of a movie, TV show or video. It’s just enough to get you by, and that’s because the HP Chromebook 14 is through and through a budget laptop. You get an Intel Dual Core Celeron N2840 processor — it’s not nearly as powerful as what you would find in the Google Pixelbook, but it’s efficient and powerful enough to get you by. With it, you only get 4GB of RAM, and a tiny 16GB hard drive.

You get just a little bit more battery life out of the Google Pixelbook than you do the HP Chromebook 14 — this budget laptop will only give you nine hours out of a single charge, and the charging is a lot slower since it doesn’t have fast charging like the Google Pixelbook.

Overall, the HP Chromebook 14 is a great budget laptop — it’s certainly something that will get you by and through all of your basic tasks, but it’s certainly no high-end Google Pixelbook.

Google Pixelbook Vs HP Chromebook 14 Comparison Verdict

So, which of the two Chromebooks should you get? In this scenario, it all depends on your financial capability. If you’ve got the cash to spend, the Google Pixelbook is obviously the way to go. You get a beautiful display that’ll bring you crisp clear clarity with anything you do on it, and you get a long-lasting battery with fast charging technology, which can give you an additional couple hours of juice after just a few minutes on the wire.
For budgets, the HP Chromebook 14 isn’t a bad option, but it isn’t great either. The hardware and display are pretty low-end, and most won’t be happy with it for play; however, it’s a great laptop to get you through the way work day and some basic tasks you might need to do.
