How to Fix Google Chrome Keeps Crashing on Android
Chrome crashes on Android are usually tied to corrupted app data, outdated components, or low free storage. Follow these methods in order to stabilize Chrome without losing important data unnecessarily.
Method 1: Force stop Chrome and reboot phone
A force stop clears hung Chrome processes and memory conflicts. Rebooting immediately after gives Android a clean app runtime.
- Open Settings > Apps > Chrome.
- Tap Force stop.
- Restart your Android phone.
- Open Chrome and test several pages.
Method 2: Update Chrome and Android System WebView
Chrome depends on WebView and related components for rendering. Old versions often trigger repeat crashing loops.
- Open Google Play Store.
- Update Google Chrome if an update is available.
- Update Android System WebView.
- Also update Google app and reboot the phone.
Method 3: Clear Chrome cache and site data
Corrupt cache and bad session data can crash tabs during load. Clearing cached files usually restores normal behavior.
- Go to Settings > Apps > Chrome > Storage.
- Tap Clear cache.
- If crashing continues, tap Manage storage then clear browsing data from Chrome.
- Reopen Chrome and sign back into sites if required.
