The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) has a decent 32GB internal storage so it’s barely enough to store large files such as videos and photos in the long run. Technically, your Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) is using a microSD card but for simplicity’s sake, let’s stick to the more popular or generic term, “SD card.”

To format an SD card on a Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) is simple. Follow the steps below on what to do.
- Open Settings app.
- Tap Device Care.
- Tap Storage.
- Tap SD card.
- Tap More options at the upper right (three dots).
- Tap Storage settings.
- Tap the word SD card. DO NOT tap the Unmount button at the upper right.
- Tap Format.
- Confirm by tapping on Format SD card. Make sure NOT to turn off your tablet or remove the SD card while formatting is in progress.
- That’s it!
NOTE: If you are inserting an SD card for the first time on your Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) and its file system is not compatible or unreadable, your tablet will prompt you to format the card first. Check the Notification Bar at the top and see if there’s an option that you should allow you to do that. Otherwise, just proceed with whatever you plan on doing and use your tablet normally.
