Solution to Galaxy J7 Pro that won’t turn on

More often than not, this problem is basically just a result of a system crash provided that it started on its own without apparent reason or cause. However, if the phone got dropped on a hard surface or if it got in contact with water and then this problem started, it’s a clear indication that the problem is caused by physical and / or liquid damage. In such case, you should bring the phone immediately to the service center without doing any troubleshooting procedures.

But in this troubleshooting guide, let’s assume the problem isn’t due to physical or liquid damage. Here’s what you should do…

The Effective Solution

Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power key simultaneously for 10 seconds or more. This would boot the phone up normally as it simulates battery disconnect and refreshes the devices memory. It’s a simple procedure but it’s very effective in dealing with system crashes or other minor firmware issues.

If your J7 Pro still won’t respond to this, then you should try doing this…

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button first and don’t let it go.
  2. Press and hold the Power key while holding down the Volume Down button.
  3. Keep both keys held down for 10 seconds or more.

It basically has the same effect as the procedure above but this time, we’re simply trying to make sure you’re doing the combination correctly. Pressing the Power key first isn’t the same as pressing the Volume Down button first. When doing a combination, it would be better to press the Power key last.

Now, if the phone is still not responding after this, there’s another thing you could do to try and bring the phone to boot up. It’s possible that the battery has just been completely drained that’s why it doesn’t respond no matter what. To address that, here’s what you should do:

  1. Plug the charger to a working AC or wall outlet.
  2. Using the original cable, connect  your phone to its charger.
  3. Regardless whether the phone responds or not, allow the phone to charge for at least ten minutes.
  4. Now, press and hold the Volume Down and the Power keys simultaneously for 10 seconds again.

If the battery is drained, the phone should respond after doing this procedure. However, if the issue continues and you’re sure you’re doing everything right, then it’s time to bring the phone to the service center so that a technician can take a look at it and do some tests.
