How to fix Galaxy A8 2018 that’s stuck in boot loop
The key to fixing this problem is by knowing how it started. For instance, if the phone entered the boot loop after installing or updating some apps, then you can make the phone boot up successfully in safe mode since all third-party apps are temporarily disabled in that mode.
Safe mode to fix boot loop issue in Galaxy A8 2018
- Turn off your phone.
- Press and hold the Power button for a few seconds.
- When the Samsung logo appears, release the Power button then immediately hold the Volume Down button.
- Keep holding the Volume Down button until the phone reboots.
- When your phone boots up, you will see the Safe Mode label at the bottom left corner of the screen.
Once you’ve successfully booted your phone up in this mode, find the app you installed or updated and then disable or uninstall it to get your phone to run in normal mode. From there, try to reinstall the app to see if the problem would still occur after that.

- From the Home screen, tap the Apps tray.
- Tap Settings > Apps.
- Tap the desired application in the default list or tap 3 dots icon > Show system apps to display preinstalled apps.
- Tap the desired application.
- Tap Uninstall.

However, if the problem occurred after the firmware update, then it’s most likely an issue with the firmware. To fix it, you just have to delete all system caches so that they will be replaced with new ones.
Wipe cache partition to fix boot loop issue in Galaxy A8 2018
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds, then ‘No command’ before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe cache partition”.
- Press Power button to select.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight “yes” and press the Power key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
If the problem continues after this, then you have no other choice but to do the master reset. I understand you may lose all your files and data that are stored in your phone’s internal storage but you don’t have much of a choice at this point.
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds, then ‘No command’ before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe data / factory reset.
- Press Power button to select.
- Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
- Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
- When the master reset is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
If the phone entered the boot loop after a drop or after it got in contact with water, then it’s most likely due to those circumstances and the effect would be in the hardware. Bring the phone to the service center so that a technician can take a look at it.
