Fix Galaxy A20 that won’t connect to WiFi networks

Network-related issues are often very minor. Needless to say, you may be able to fix them on your own without taking a trip back to the store or shop. However, you need to be thorough in your troubleshooting so that you can easily determine the cause. Here are the things you need to do…

First solution: Force restart your iphone and try to reconnect

Perhaps, this problem is just a minor issue caused by a problem with the firmware. Many users reported to have encountered this problem and were able to fix it just by a simple reboot. That’s the reason why you need to do the forced restart to refresh your phone’s memory as well as reload all the apps, services and core functions. A forced restart is a simulated battery removal that’s very effective against minor firmware problem. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A20 logo shows on the screen.

After the forced restart, allow your phone to reconnect to the same network and if it still won’t connect to the WiFi, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Power-cycle your modem / router

Network devices, or any electronic devices for that matter, need to be refreshed from time to time. Devices that run on their respective firmware or operating system may also crash every now and then. That’s why it’s important that you take a few minutes in restarting them.

  1. Unplug your modem or router from the wall outlet or simply disconnect the power cord from the main unit.
  2. Leave it without power for a minute or two.
  3. After that, plug it back into the wall outlet or reconnect the cord.
  4. Wait for the device to become online and then let your phone reconnect to it.

If your Galaxy A20 still won’t connect to the WiFi network even after this, then it’s time to move on to the next solution.

Third solution: Reset Network Settings

When it comes to network issues, resetting the network settings of your phone has already been proven effective. It brings all wireless settings back to their default values as well as delete all existing connections. You will have to re-enable WiFi after this and let your phone try to reconnect to the network. Here’s how you reset the network settings on your A20:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and tap General management.
  4. Touch Reset.
  5. Tap Reset network settings.
  6. Tap Reset settings.
  7. If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern.
  8. Finally, tap Reset.
  9. If your phone reboots, then wait for it to finish the restart and then enable WiFi.
  10. Allow your phone to reconnect to the network.

If your Galaxy A20 still won’t connect after this procedure, then troubleshoot the firmware.

Fourth solution: Wipe the cache partition

When the system cache gets corrupted as it happens more often than you think, then performance issues may occur including network-related problems  like this. While it’s difficult to know if that’s really the case with your phone right now but try deleting the old system cache so that it will be replaced with a new one. Don’t worry, none of your important files will be deleted and you don’t have to create a backup. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Galaxy A20 logo shows, release all three keys.
  4. Your Galaxy A20 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  6. Press Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
  8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

After this, try to let your phone reconnect to the network to see if the problem is fixed. If your Galaxy A20 still won’t connect to WiFi networks, then move on to the next solution.

  1. Turn off the device.
