How To Change App Permissions On Samsung Galaxy

One of the ways to safeguard personal data in your Samsung device is by making sure that you only allow app permissions when necessary. Permissions is Android’s way of granting an app access to certain data in a device, effectively dictating what an app can or cannot do.

There’s a wide range of data being stored in your phone or tablet but not every app needs all of them. Some apps may require a variety of permissions in order to use your data. These data can include information about your device’s location, calendar, camera, contacts, microphone, storage, or telephone.

If you are not careful with what permissions you grant to apps, you may compromise your personal information. Since apps can’t automatically grant permissions to themselves, you actually have the power to prevent apps from stealing your information or using them in less than ideal ways.

Keep in mind that well-built apps can continue working even when permissions are denied. Some malicious developers though may create apps that may stop their apps from working if a certain permission is not allowed so be careful with such products.

If you smell something fishy, don’t proceed with the app installation. If you think that an app is suspicious, be sure to uninstall it from your device.

Change app permissions during installation of an app

Android devices are now forced to show a permission prompt right after an app has been installed. This prompt will ask the user whether or not the newly added app is allowed to access certain data like a device’s location information.

All you have to do is to tap on Allow or Deny depending on the app. We highly recommend that you keep vigilant in allowing permissions to avoid compromising your personal data.

If you think that an app on your Samsung device can continue working without certain permissions enabled, be sure to deny a permission being asked. Certain permissions may be necessary in order for an app to work properly so be sure to decide reasonably.

For instance, a navigation app will obviously need to access your device’s location data so be sure to grant it.

  1. Hello my recently purchased Samsung phone needs way too many unnessary permissions granted before it let’s me use the apps. For instance before i can take a photo the camera app needs permission granted to use NFC. My camera app does not need Near Field Communication to take a photo. And the camera app does not need Microphone permission to take a normal photo. Photos don’t have audio. Other apps are the same. In order to use them I have to grant the app unnecessary permissions. Most times I grant the unnecessary permissions and then revoke them after I use the app, and hope that the short time in between wasn’t enough for to compromise my security and privacy.
Any help to solve this problem on how to use apps without granting unnessary permissions would get great.
