A Pixel Launcher Bug Is Reportedly Hiding App Icons

The Pixel is one of the few phones in the market that offers a pure Google experience with a wide range of features and apps specific to the device. With Google recently announcing a “feature drop” that brought new features to Pixel phones, it seems like it has some issues as well. Some users are apparently seeing their icons disappear while using the Pixel launcher. However, the app names are still visible, causing quite a bit of confusion for the users. On double-tapping the empty space, the icon quickly reappears and the app is launched, it is said.

Users have taken to Reddit to share their concerns on the matter. Phones like the Pixel 2, Pixel 3a, as well as the Pixel 4, are currently affected, although it’s likely that the issue is more widespread. Some users have reportedly seen folders disappear as well, which can be quite annoying for device owners.

It is worth pointing out that this bug is seen after the December security patch. This means devices like the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL are safe right now since they’re yet to get the November security patch. It’s likely that Google is probably working on a fix for this launcher bug as we speak, so it shouldn’t be long until the issue is resolved entirely.

The aforementioned feature drop recently introduced features like auto-centering and auto-zoom on Google Duo while on a video call. Further, it was recently reported that Duo will get chat bubbles with a future update, so it’s clear that Google is taking feature drops pretty seriously.
