4 Best 5G Phones in 2024

5G is the next networking technology that is supposed to revolutionize mobile networks. The one “con” that comes with 5G is that most phones aren’t going to be able to support the technology right out of the gate.

So, if you want to make sure that you’re able to use the new technology as it’s rolling out, you’re going to need to make sure that you pick up a compatible 5G smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy S10 5G

Enter, Samsung’s first 5G-enabled flagship phone, the 5G model of the Samsung Galaxy S10. It has to be a separate 5G model because Samsung has to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G NR modem to make the phone 5G compatible.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G has a least a couple of differences from the original phone. It has a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ Curved Dynamic AMOLED display, has 8GB of RAM, and then uses the Snapdragon 855 chipset. The chipset keeps things speedy, but also brings you the latest version of Qualcomm’s Quick Charge technology.

There is a whopping 512GB of internal storage and a big 4,500mAh battery.

The other neat thing about the new Galaxy S10 5G phone is the 3D Depth camera, which is used for augmented reality and Live Video Focus. That means that, in the Galaxy S10 5G, there are four rear cameras — two 12-megapixel sensors, a 16-megapixel unit, and TOF shooter. There are also two front-facing cameras, one being a 10-megapixel, and the other a TOF.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G

Another 5G smartphone, you can’t go wrong with — Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10+ 5G. On top of being a productivity powerhouse, this one comes with that much-coveted 5G technology.

It doesn’t generally get any better than the Galaxy Note 10+. It comes with a 6.8-inch edge-to-edge display. It has Samsung’s bezel-less, curved Infinity display, which can bring you some beautiful immersion in media. One of the cool things here is that the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G comes with improved face recognition, which makes it quicker to unlock.

OnePlus 7 Pro 5G

Another great option is the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. This one is much of the same as the original OnePlus 7 Pro, but with the added support for that Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G NR modem.

As far as hardware goes, you get a 6.67-inch QHD+ Fluid AMOLED display with a whopping 90Hz refresh rate. If you watch a lot of media — like movies and videos on the go, you cannot go wrong with the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. It’s going to be an extraordinary experience, even on the go. There is also a blue light filter, which makes the screen easier on the eyes at night.

As far as hardware goes, you can configure your OnePlus 7 Pro to have between 6GB to 12GB of RAM and 128 to 256GB of storage.  No matter what, you’re getting a big 4,000mAh battery, and it has Warp Charge 30 Fast Charging, which can juice this up pretty quickly on the go.

The big downside here is that the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G is only available on Sprint — if you’re on any other carrier, it’s just not going to work, unfortunately.

LG V50 ThinQ 5G

Next up, we have the LG V50 ThinQ 5G. This one is nice because it has a big 6.4-inch OLED display. This keeps colors natural and vivid, which is great for watching media.

Another neat thing about the LG V50 ThinQ is that it comes with a whole five cameras. There are three front-facing cameras, which are excellent for taking some sweet selfies. You should be able to take photos with some excellent field of view as well, which helps you get plenty of people or scenery in your front-facing selfies. There are two rear cameras as well, which can also take beautiful photos.

As you might imagine, this is another one that runs off of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, but on the 5G platform, which means you’re getting that X50 5G NR modem on-board. It also comes with a 4,000mAh battery, which should be able to give you all-day battery life.

LG has even included a built-in cooling system, which should help keep the smartphone operating at average temperatures because between the processor chip and the hefty 5G modem, this one can output a ton of power.

The LG V50 ThinQ 5G is only available on Sprint and Verizon right now, but since those are CDMA phones, you aren’t going to be able to take it over to GSM carriers.

Any of these smartphones are going to bring you 5G capabilities; however, if you’re looking for the best of the best, there are three here that you can never go wrong with. The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G is an excellent choice, but if you’re looking for some more productivity, you can’t go wrong with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G model. Either of these is excellent choices, but another that is going to be a unique experience is the OnePlus 7 Pro.
