What to do if Galaxy S9 Plus (S9+) has vertical lines on screen after unboxing

The case below does not happen all the time but for the sake of those wondering what to do, we decided to post an article for it. Basically, this post wants to answer a user who is wondering what to do after finding out that his new Galaxy S9 Plus (S9+) shows vertical lines on screen.

Problem: Galaxy S9 Plus (S9+) showing vertical lines on screen

I got a new Samsung Galaxy S9+ and within a few hours of setting up my phone, vertical green and white bars started showing up. I’ve tried factory resetting and clearing the cache but nothing I have tried has worked. Please help!

Solution: On paper, all brandnew Galaxy devices leaving the factory are supposedly quality checked to ensure that they are free of defects. In reality though, this does not always happen. With millions of Galaxy S9 devices shipped already, a few may be released from the factory with problems. Others may become damaged in transit to retailers or stores as well. Such cases though are usually isolated so if your new S9 Plus has an obvious screen defect (it’s not normal for an S9 Plus screen to have discoloration or lines on the screen), the best solution that you can do is to demand for a replacement.

When you say “new,” we assume you mean brand new. As such, all you have to do is to bring the device back to the store where you got it from and tell them about the problem. Make sure that you bring the proof of purchase so your replacement request can go smoothly.

If you bought the phone online, then you have to do the same and seek for a replacement unit.

99% of the time, vertical lines on screen are due to hardware defect so there’s no amount of software tweak that you can do to fix this on your end.
