Why is my Sony SRS XB13 speaker not charging?

One of the issues that you might experience with Bluetooth speakers is when the built-in battery does not charge. This can be an annoying experience especially if the speaker’s built-in battery life is already low.
Here’s what you need to do to fix the charging issues on your Sony SRS XB13 speakers.
Solution 1: Check the Sony SRS XB13 speaker charging port and cord
Your Sony Bluetooth speaker uses a USB Type C port to charge its built-in battery. You need to make sure that this USB charging port is clean and free from any dirt or debris inside. You can clean the charging port using a thin object such as a toothpick.
You should also make sure that the USB Type-C cord you are using is working properly. If necessary, replace this cord with a new one.
It’s recommended that you use a USB AC adapter with an output current of 1.5 A or more. Since the speaker will not have an adapter included you can get any AC adaptor commercially available.
Solution 2: Fully charge your Sony SRS XB13 speaker properly
You need to make sure that you are charging your Bluetooth speaker correctly.
Connect one end of a USB Type-C cable to the DC IN 5V USB-C port on the speaker and the other end to a USB AC adaptor (commercially available), and then connect the USB AC adaptor to an AC outlet.
Make sure that the USB cable is firmly connected to the speaker and the USB AC adapter.
Make sure the USB AC adapter is firmly connected to the speaker and the AC outlet.
One of the reasons why your speaker won’t charge is because you are plugging it to a faulty wall power outlet. Try plugging the AC adaptor to a different wall outlet then check if the battery charging process proceeds.
The CHARGE indicator lights up in orange while charging is in progress.
The battery charging completes depending on the charger you are using.
If you are using an AC adaptor that delivers an output current of 500 mA or more then the charging completes in about 4 hours and 30 minutes.
Solution 3: Reset the Sony SRS XB13 speaker
Sometimes this charging issue is caused by the software freezing. A factory reset should be done in this case which will delete the data on this Bluetooth speaker and bring it back to its default settings.
Turn on the speaker.
Press and hold the – (volume) button and the (BLUETOOTH) button until the speaker turns off (5 seconds or more).
Try to check if the rechargeable built-in battery can now be charged.
Solution 4: Have your Sony Bluetooth speaker checked at a service center
There are instances when this issue can already be caused by a damaged built-in battery or even a damaged circuit board. If this is what’s causing the problem then you will need to have this fixed at a service center.
