Things To Do For Sony Earbuds That Won’t Turn On

Check For Light Indicators

Sony earbuds, such as the WF-1000XM3 model, have indicators that will flash when the headphones are removed from the charging case. If the indicators flash a blue light, it means that it has turned on normally. If the indicators flash in blue and red alternately or the indicators flash in blue twice each, it means they are in the Bluetooth pairing mode.

Charge The Charging Case

If you haven’t seen a light indicator, try to charge the headphones and the charging case. Once you’ve plugged them into a power outlet, check if the indicators of the headphones light up in red. The steady red light on your charging case indicates that in the process of charging. Continue charging and until it is fully charged.

If the light indicator flashes but turns off immediately after flashing, it means the remaining charge is too low. Just connect the supplied USB cable to the charging case, and check if the indicators light up. If there is no charging indicator flashing, clean the charging ports of the headphones, and check if the charging indicators light up. You may need to perform a reset if there is no charging indicator on the charging case.

Reset The Earbuds

To perform a reset on your Sony earbuds or if you are using the WF-1000XM3 model, place the headset in the charging case, leave the lid of the charging case open, then hold your finger to the touch sensor on the left unit for about 20 seconds.

When the red light indicator of the headset turns off after flashing, release your finger. Then hold your finger to the touch sensor on the right unit for about 20 seconds. Release your finger when the red light indicator of the headset turns off after flashing.

Take note that the red light indicator of the headset remains off and does not start flashing even if you perform the procedures provided if there is a problem with the headset. If that’s the case, hold your finger to the touch sensor longer (for about 30 seconds), and then release your finger when the red light indicator of the headset turns on.

Don’t worry as the device registration or pairing information and other settings will be retained with this reset process. Just check if the headphones turn on after performing the steps.

Reset the Headset To Factory Settings

If the issue persists, you may need to initialize your headset and restore it to factory settings. To do that, place the headset in the charging case, leave the lid of the charging case open. Hold your fingers to the touch sensors on both the left and right units for about 10 seconds. Release your fingers when the red light indicators of the headset start flashing.

You should see the blue light indicator flash four times and the headset has initialized. This procedure resets the headset to the factory settings and deletes all pairing information. In this case, delete the pairing information for the headset from the device and then pair them again.

Just check if the headsets turn on after performing the steps.
