Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Takes Too Long to Start Up

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is a flagship phone released last year that is best known for having a larger 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display which is made possible due to the removal of the physical home button. The phone  has an aluminum frame sandwiched between two glasses giving it an elegant and premium design. It uses the powerful Snapdragon 835 processor which is known for running any app smoothly. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 takes too long to start up issue and other related problems.

S8 Takes Too Long to Start Up

Problem: My Galaxy S8 takes 5-6 minutes to complete start up. Android 8. Phone is not damaged in any way. This started about seven days ago. I have put the phone in Safe Mode and deleted all Emails, Spam, Conversations. Only one program remains that did not come installed on the phone (Golf Clash) which was downloaded from Play Store. What else can I do to fix.

Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If this card has corrupt sectors then sometime the phone will take too long to boot up. Try removing the card if your phone has one installed then check if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t the you should consider getting a new microSD card.

In case the issue still persists then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the same issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S8 Not Turning On After Charging Overnight

Problem: I plugged my phone in to charge before I went to bed and when I woke up I could not turn it on and it will not even show if it is even charging. I have a replacement being sent but I was wondering if there is anyway to recover pictures and contacts even though it will not turn on?

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the charging port of the phone is free from any dirt or debris. Clean the port using a can of compressed air. Once this is done try charging the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. If the charging indicator does not appear then try charging the phone from a computer USB port. Once the phone has charged try turning it on by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.

If the phone does not turn on then you won’t be able to recovery any of your data stored in the phone. In case the problem is just caused by a faulty battery then you can have this checked and replaced at a service center otherwise the specific component that is causing the problem must be pinpointed.

S8 Slow Charging Error

Problem: I bought a magnet cell phone wallet… i took my samsung s8 case off my phone to charge it. I went and plugged it in and charge and now it say slow charging please use the cord that came with my phone. I tried my daughter charger and it will not charge at all. I have a wireless charger and there was no message and it did charge my phone.

Solution: If the phone is slow charging then the first thing you need to do is to check if the problem is caused by a faulty charging cord. Try using a different charging cord to charge the phone. In case the problem persists then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Make sure that the fast charging setting of the phone is enabled. Go to Settings > Device maintenance > Battery > Advanced settings and turn on fast cable charging.
  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
  • Try using a different wall charger

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
