Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Stuck On Downloading Software Update

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is a flagship phone released last year that  sports a completely new design when compared to its predecessor which is the S7. This new model ditches the physical home button and now uses an Infinity Display which is a 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display that occupies most of the front portion of the phone. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 835 / Exynos 8895 processor which when combined with its 4GB of RAM allows the phone to run any app smoothly. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 stuck on downloading software update issue and other related problems.

S8 Stuck On Downloading Software Update

Problem: My friend started downloading Android 8.0 Oreo firmware on my phone and I stopped it at 14% be sure I didn’t want it. I don’t know why it came up in my notifications to begin with cause I have never had this happen on my phone. Now I can not stop the download cause it only has a download button and it’s stuck in my notifications. Please help me. I spent $500 on my old phone and had it go into a boot loop. I spent $700 on this phone and can’t afford to lose this one. No money to buy another one right now.

Solution: If your phone is not rooted and it is running on its stock firmware file then the notification for a software update will keep on appearing on your device. The only way that it will disappear is if you update your phone software. The software update generally makes your phone perform better and introduces several new features. If you are concerned that issues might occur right after the update then I suggest that you backup your phone data first before doing the update.

S8 Stuck In USB Debugging Mode

Problem: Randomly get white screen appear, which I can’t close, says… “please turn off usb debugging” please turn off “usb debugging/developer” options using the settings menu. Settings link I go into settings developer ..and find its off. I had O2 shop transfer data in shop, they used developer options, my husband didn’t and he doesn’t have problem. Has come up while doing this message! Also all that was transferred we’re my contacts, I could have done that, they said all my notes, memos, etc at would be transferred so not impressed with O2 staff. Appreciate any help this popup is so annoying Thanks

Solution: The first thing that you will want to do in this case is to make sure that the USB debugging mode of the phone is turned off. To do this make sure that you have enabled the developer options of the phone. To enable this go to “Apps” – “Settings” – “About phone” and tap “Build number” repeatedly until it says “You are now a developer”.

To turn off the USB debugging mode

  • Go to Settings –  Developer options
  • Under “Developer option”, scroll down to find USB debugging option then make sure that it is off

If this setting is already off but the issue still persists then this could be caused by a software glitch. The best thing that you can do in this particular case is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S8 Screen Becomes White When Phone Gets Warm

Problem: When it gets even a little bit warm not even hot the screen get completely white and unable to see any icons etc. I can’t use phone till I get it adequately cooled off (for hours usually). I’m a delivery driver and desperately need the use of my phone when outside sometimes in the heat it only started this in the last week. The first few months it had no issues

Solution: Unfortunately, this appears to be a hardware related problem already. You can however check if this is caused by a software glitch by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then I suggest that you have this checked at a service center.
