S8 Not Receiving Text Messages When Phone Sleeps

Problem: Hi. I have a Samsung S8, T- Mobile. It is working fine. The problem is that I don’t receive any kind of message or notification while the phone is in sleep mode. I mean by sleep mode when the screen of the phone goes black like a screen saver. When I wake it up, a “tsunami” of messages and notifications come all of a sudden. Sometimes I miss important ones since I maintain my phone in sleep mode. I need to receive messages and notifications all the time. It happen whether the phone is in power saving or not. Thanks for your help.

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to check if you are in an area with a good signal reception. If the signal is spotty then try going to a different location then check if the issue still occurs. In case the networks signal that your phone is getting is good then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs. By restarting the device it will refresh the phone software and reset its connection to the network.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone just yet instead try to check first if the problem still occurs.

S8 Sending Duplicate Photos In Text Message

Problem: Text messaging sending duplicate photos, when only 1 photo was selected. Hi, just got the new galaxy S8. Did the samsung switch app to load all my info, pics, text and etc into the new phone. However, Im having an issue… when I send a text of a photo (old and new) it creates a duplicate of the same photo sent to the recipient. You won’t notice a duplicate was sent by the main text screen, but if you select the photo to review what was sent, it shows 2 of the same photo (duplicate) was sent. How do I fix this? Please note: I don’t have any other 3rd party apps for texting. I do have apps to edit photos. But I even tried to send a photo that I random snapped that second to check and it still creates the duplicate.

Solution: It’s very likely that the problem is caused by a glitch in the text messaging app. To fix this just clear the cache and data of this app from the application manager then check if the issue still occurs.

In case the issue persists then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. As soon as the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone just yet. Try checking first if the issue still occurs.

S8 Not Receiving Or Sending Text Messages

Problem: Hello, im having issues with my S8. It will not send or receive text messages at times. i have to constantly reset the phone and hope that it starts working again. I have full bars and it is showing the 4G LTE all lit up just no arrows below it. its showing the arrows faded grey. But i will be having a normal day and then randomly out of nowhere it will start acting up and start doing this. i can call people without an issue. i can get online without a problem.  i have contacted my carrier about it and they didn’t even know what to do other then make a call every time i restart my phone. It’s getting quite annoying considering its happening just about every day and im having people message me on fb asking if i’m getting their texts.

Solution: The first thing you need to do is to check if it is the network that is causing the problem. Try going to a different area or location then check if the issue occurs. In case it still does then I suggest that you perform a factory reset on your phone. Make sure that you backup your phone data before doing the reset. Do not install any apps in your phone after the reset has completed. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will have to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
