Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Cannot Make Or Receive Calls

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is a flagship phone released last year which changed the way the company designs their premium models. The phone ditches the home button allowing it to have a large 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display that now occupies most of the front part of the device. Under the hood is a powerful Snapdragon 835 processor which when combined with 4GB of RAM allows the device to run apps smoothly. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 cannot make or receive calls issue and other related problems.

S8 Cannot Make Or Receive Calls

Problem: Recently, I’ve been having a few issues with my beloved S8 I had for a year. Looking at all your questions pertaining to the S8, I couldn’t find anything that helped my situation. The OS was Nougat and upgraded to Oreo when the update came out. Aug. 3 was the last time I was able to make/receive calls and I was not sure why. At first, I thought it was the SIM and got it checked out. Everything was fine. There was also a random rebooting issue on top of it and it would not sync to the computer. No matter how many times it was reset, it would still reboot and calls not made. it would constantly ask me to send an error report back to Samsung. I called Samsung and they took me through a factory reset also. It fixed my syncing problem, but It did not solve anything else. Still reboots and cannot use the phone. The only thing I do not get is the prompt to send error reports. I scanned it with the free avg from Google and came up with nothing. Right now I am in limbo as to what it is and tired of doing factory resets. Could it be a virus that avg cannot find? I am ready to send it back to Samsung and get it fixed, but I wanted to see what you thought about it. I do not want to send it back if I do not have to.

Solution: If you have already made sure that the SIM card is not the cause of the problem and you have already performed a factory reset which doesn’t fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Drops The Call

Problem: Hi, I have an S8 . There are times when i’m in a conference call or a war room where we stay on the call but at times remain quite for extended periods. I’ve noticed that after a period of inactivity around  5 or 7 mins the phone will simply drop the call. At first i thought it was the web conferencing software we used but we recently changed web conference services and it continues to happen. i tested by calling myself and leaving the phone connected to the call with no actual conversation taking place and sure enough it drops the call.  I’m not aware of any setting i can change to avoid this. Can you help?

Solution: The first thing you should do in this case is to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch by performing the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Check if the issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. In case it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache and data of the phone app from the application manager.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data the do a factory reset. Immediately check if the issue still occurs.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then this could be caused by a network or SIM issue. The best thing to do right now is to contact your carrier regarding this matter.

S8 Unfortunately Phone Has Stopped Error After Software Update

Problem: I did the most recent update to my OS and ever since then if i am running an app and a phone call comes in i get the error, “Unfortunately phone has stopped”.  I have to restart my phone to get the message to stop popping up. I have wiped my cache, shut the sidebar off, every suggestion i can find on the internet apart from wiping the phone to stock.  As long as I am not in an app the call comes in fine. any help would be appreciated.

Solution: For this particular problem you should try clearing the cache and data of the phone app first from the application manager. If this does not fix the problem then this is most likely caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. The best thing you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S8 Calls Can Not Be Made At This Time Error

Problem: My phone cannot make or receive calls. I can use all other phone functions, text, internet, Netflix, gmail, google, etc.   When I try to make a call it tells me “Calls can not be made at this time, always allowed numbers can be reached” When people try to call me it says- “the person you dialed is not able to receive calls at this time” I have full bars. I have wi-fi calling as an option but i tried that and it didn’t work either.

Solution: When you get this particular error message then it’s either you have a pending bill that needs to be settled with you carrier or the account has been suspended. The best way to fix this problem is to contact your carrier.
