Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Battery Draining Very Fast

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is a flagship phone released last year that is still considered as one of the best Android smartphones available in the market. This device sports a 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display that’s being called as an Infinity Display since it occupies most of the front part of the phone. It uses the Snapdragon 835 / Exynos 8895 processor combined with 4GB of RAM which allows the phone to works smoothly. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 battery draining very fast issue and other related problems.

S8 Battery Draining Very Fast

Problem: My battery has been draining really fast and will shut off at 40% with no low battery warning. So I put it in in safe mode today and now it is loading extremely slow. I have uninstalled all apps I had downloaded onto phone and no longer know what to do. This phone was originally on Verizon and has been professionally rooted and unlocked to support my carrier metro pcs.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Remove the microSD card of the phone is you have one installed. Do not install any apps in your phone once the reset is complete. Try checking first if the issue still occurs. If it does then the battery of your phone might be faulty. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Battery Percentage Keeps Jumping

Problem: Hey there, my partner is have a ton of issues with his S8. He’s having issues with weak charge and battery percentage jumping up and down, as well issues with texts not receiving, overheating, and the time is wrong by a couple hours. He’s tried changing the time but when he restarts, it goes back to be about 3 hours off (it’s the same time every time he restarts it). He’s looked at the phone and there’s no bloating and it still lays flat. I have the same exact phone that we bought at the same time and mine is still working fine even though physically it’s way more messed up. Any idea his issue could be and a possible fix? Thanks for your time.

Solution: This looks like a combination of a hardware and software issues. What you will want to do right now is to remove the microSD card of the phone ( if you have one installed) then start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue still occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem might be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case you still experience the same issue even in Safe Mode then you should proceed with a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you will have to bring this to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Freezes Then Stuck In Boot Logo

Problem: Hi, I’m using an S8, it is working fine for a year since I purchase it. However today morning my phone start to react super slow and finally froze and I tried to restart the phone. However the phone stuck at the Boot Logo and unable to go to home page, it will reboot again automatically after a few minutes. Tried to drain the battery and recharge it, yet it still stuck at Boot logo. Tried soft reset method, but the phone just won’t response whether I press vol down or up. Please help as I have a lot of photos just taken few days ago during Shanghai trip with family and yet to back it up on time. Thanks!!!

Related Problem: Hello, I have an S8 that has been running well for several months. Last week I attempted to restart it as I do every few weeks, and it became stuck in a boot loop. I have Verizon so it has three initialization screens (S8, Samsung, and Verizon red screen) which it will progress through until it stops, vibrates twice, and starts over again at the beginning. Interestingly, it always seems to stop/fail initializing at a different place. It will stop anywhere within the three screens, vibrate twice, and start over. It will boot into recovery, but I haven’t been able to boot it into download. I have performed a cache wipe, and a soft reset, to no effect. I haven’t yet done a factory reset, because I am hopeful that some music still stored on the phone might be recoverable. Contacts and photos were backed up, thankfully.

Solution: If your phone has a microSD card installed then you should remove it. Once the card is removed connect your phone to its charger then make sure to charge it to 100%. In case you have a problem charging the phone then proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
  • Try charging the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
  • Try using a wireless charger to charge the phone.

Once the phone has fully charged try starting the device by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. In case the phone is still stuck in the boot logo then try the following steps.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. If the phone works in this mode then an app you installed might be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode. Wipe the cache partition of your device then follow this up with a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to have this checked at a service center.
