Time Needed : 3 minutes
Modern Android smartphones allow you to hide sensitive contents that you opt to store on your phone’s internal storage. Some Android system files are also designed to be hidden by default. These hidden files can also be viewed and accessed by common users when needed.
Depicted below is the actual process of showing hidden files and folders inside the Google Pixel 7’s system storage. Feel free to refer to this guide when needed.
- Open the Files app to get started.
To do this, swipe up from the bottom of the Home screen to launch the Apps tray then find and tap the Files app icon to launch the app.
- In the Files app menu, tap on the Menu icon represented by three short horizontal lines on the upper-right corner.
Doing so opens a side menu with a list of items.
- Tap Settings from the given options to proceed. The Files app settings menu will load up next.
Here, you will see different options to manage files, apps and folders inside your phone’s internal storage.
- To continue, navigate to the Browse section.
There, you will see different browsing options including clear search history, pause search history, and show hidden files.
- To view all hidden system files and folders, tap to turn the Show hidden files switch ON.
When this switch is on, all hidden system files and folders including the ones that are used to run Android OS and apps will be displayed in their respective parent directories.

By then you should be all set to access and manage individual files and folders accordingly.
Hiding Files/Folders in Android 13
Some files are hidden in the Android system by default. There are also some files that end-users hide on purpose. For instance, you can create a new hidden folder inside any of the system directories of your Android smartphone so that you will have a dedicated folder to hide all your confidential files.
While hidden files do not appear in any of the system directories as other normal (visible) contents, there’s always a way to access and manage them when needed. All you have to do is make use of the integrated Files app command to unhide or show hidden files.
Should you wish to hide those files and folders again, just tap to turn the Show hidden files switch OFF.
And that’s how to show hidden files on the new Google Pixel 7 smartphone.
