Samsung Unveils Galaxy M40 with Triple Camera and Infinity-O Display

Earlier in April, Samsung took the wraps off the Galaxy A60 in China. The company has now announced the global version of the same handset branded under the company’s M series of mid-ranged devices.

Known as the Galaxy M40, the smartphone will soon reach global markets, although no U.S. carrier has provided any details yet. The hole punch camera on the front is similar to that of the Galaxy S10 launched a few months ago. However, the camera sensor on the Galaxy M40 is placed on the top left corner of the display rather than the right.

The Galaxy M40 comes with a 6.3-inch 2340 x 1080 resolution PLS panel which the company calls the “Infinity O Display”, and is accompanied by Qualcomm’s 11nm Snapdragon 675 octa-core processor. Customers will get to choose between 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM or 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM. There’s a microSD card slot on board as well.

There’s a triple camera layout on the back which consists of a single 32MP camera, an 8MP camera, and a 5MP camera. There’s a massive 16MP camera on the front for selfies i.e. the hole punch camera. Unfortunately, there’s no headphone jack here, so you’ll have to stick to Bluetooth earbuds or USB C headphones. The Galaxy M40 runs Android 9.0 Pie (One UI) by default and packs a healthy 3,500 mAh battery with 15W fast charging capabilities.

For now, the smartphone has been announced in India with a price tag of INR 19,990, which is roughly around $288. A smartphone like this could go very well with a prepaid carrier in the U.S. What do you think?
