How To Manage Gmail Notifications On Google Pixel 7

In most cases, apps are supposed to notify us if there are updates or if you received messages. However, there are times when you also have to silence a certain app from sending you notifications and you can actually do that.

While you can silence your phone using Do Not Disturb and by turning off all notifications, you might miss some important messages if you do that. That’s one of the reasons why you can actually silence certain apps on Google Pixel 7.

Time Needed : 3 minutes

In this guide, we will show you how to manage Gmail notifications and how to silence the app if necessary. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Pull up the app drawer and tap Settings.

Another way to access settings is by pulling down the Quick Settings panel and by tapping the gear icon.

  2. Find and tap Notifications.

This will bring you to the screen where you can change some settings on how your phone behaves when messages or notifications are received.

  3. From the top, tap App settings.

This will allow you to control notifications from your apps.

  4. Look for Gmail and tap on it once found.

This will give you access to some notification settings for the app.

  5. If you just want to silence the app, tap the switch next to All Gmail notifications to disable it.

You won’t be able to get notifications when new messages are received.

  6. Tap Mail to set up how new emails are received and displayed.

You can change how new notifications are displayed by enabling the option Pop on screen, what notification sound to use by tapping sound and have the phone vibrate when notifications are received. You also have control over whether to show sensitive contents on the lock screen or not.

  7. Going back to the previous screen, all other settings for Gmail notifications are binary.

You can just flip the switch beside each one of them and they’ll either be enabled or disabled. Play with those settings for a bit to make your phone and Gmail work the way you want.
