Huawei Promises Android Q Update for Nearly 20 Devices

Google is currently rolling out Android Q to partners and developers alike. However, following its recent fallout with Huawei, the future of Android at the company was considered at risk. However, the company has managed to reassure its customers in the UK that it is currently working on the forthcoming Android Q update for up to 20 devices. The company made the revelation on its Twitter page.

Below are the preliminary list of 16 Huawei devices that are expected to get the Android Q update:

  • P30 Pro
  • P30
  • P30 Lite
  • Mate 20
  • Mate 20 Pro
  • PORSCHE DESIGN Mate 20 RS
  • P smart (2019)
  • P smart+ (2019)
  • P smart Z
  • Mate 20 X
  • Mate 20 X (5G)
  • P20 Pro
  • P20
  • Mate 10 Pro
  • PORSCHE DESIGN Mate 10
  • Mate 10

It is important to note that Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro is currently involved in the Android Q Beta Program. But the fact that older devices will also receive the coveted update is definitely welcome news for the customers. Although the message appears to be directed at UK customers, Huawei could very well follow the same protocol in its other key markets.

The company recently offered a full refund program for customers of its products in the Philippines. This was an attempt to assuage the customers’ feelings following the consequences of the trade ban, which led to Google severing ties with the company. It seems like Huawei also has a contingency plan in place in the form of “HongMeng OS, which is expected to replace Android on some of its future devices.
